At the hit of the throttle by Don Garlits in Swamp Rat XIII, the transmission / clutch exploded, severing part of his foot off and breaking his dragster in half. Soon after the front engined dragster was banned by the NHRA and the gradual move to the rear engined dragster was on it's way.

The best days of drag racing took place in the front engined dragster's - Long Live The F.E.D.
