Hi I was wondering if you have any tips for a baby witch?
So I always suggest new witches research a few things first:
History of witchcraft
Different branches of magick (druidry, witchcraft, necromancy, divination, etc). Witchcraft isnt the only branch of magick out there, there may be something you connect with more. *always research to make sure you arent taking from closed practices however.
Protection. What it is, how to preform protection magick/ spells, etc. Witchcraft & magick aren't inherently dangerous or anything, protection can be as simple as protecting against any negative will someone may direct at you. Whether they mean to or not.
Cleansing. Cleansing does kind of go hand in hand with protection in a sense, but cleansing is important. Smoke cleansing is generally what people seem to think of first, but there are tons of other methods for cleansing. Sound, energy, sigils, water solutions, etc.
Warding. Biggest thing to know about warding is you can ward things out but you can also ward things in. So if you want to put warding up around say a room or home, you'll want to cleanse the space first, unless you want to trap something in.
Grounding. This essentially is just you being connected to the Earth. And again many ways to accomplish this.
Shadow Work. Scary thought to a lot of us initially but shadow work is extremely important to do, sooner or later. It's okay if you dont feel ready to do it, take your time. But getting into it at some point is neccessary imo because it will help you grow so much and really help your magickal workings.
Researching these things online can sometimes be a challenge. Use key words such as magick with the k, witchcraft, when researching for correspondences of things "magickal properties of ___".
Always read from multiple sources. Try to find varying views on subjects, view things objectively. Use critical thinking if you can. It's okay to question things. If something doesn't sit right with you, find a new source.
Have healthy doubt. Doubt is something that can help keep us on our toes and continuing to research and learn and grow.
Learn to listen to and trust your intuition. As someone with anxiety I understand how hard it can be at times to hear your intuition and not just your anxiety. Learning to differentiate will prove invaluable.
Avoid the toxic positivity crowds. Basically they only embrace "positive" workings. Often they don't believe in or encourage shadow work. They preach "a positive mindset will fix everything" basically, and will make you believe the bad things happening to you are your fault. This is toxic (hence toxic positivity) and it's pretty popular in spiritual settings.
Sleep Well Spell
You will need the following items for this spell:
an amethyst or rose quartz crystal
a sachet of dried lavender (or lavender essential oil)
Gently crush the sachet of lavender between your hands to release its scent, then place it underneath your pillow. If you are using some essential oil, use a few drops to scent your pillows and bed sheets. After you do this, lie down and hold the crystal in your hands. Breathe in the comforting scent of the lavender. Recite the following:
Soothing herb and gentle stone, I cannot rest well on my own. Help me sleep, help me sleep well. Help me rest with this soothing spell.
Continue to say the incantation for as long as you can, gradually saying it more softly until it’s a calm whisper. Perform as often as necessary, though you may need to add fresh lavender or essential oil every now and then.

sleep spell
what you need: -1 blue tealight candle (you may substitute for white or any calming color you like) -1 piece quartz -1 piece amethyst -1 piece lapis lazuli (if not available, you can also just use another amethyst) (optional): -1 piece blue or white thread, long enough to create a circle around your stones
instructions: begin by arranging the stones in a triangular formation that points towards you, with enough room in the middle for the tealight. make sure the stone pointing towards you is the quartz. circle your thread around the formation, leaving the ends loose opposite of the quartz.
you may now cast a circle if you wish.
take a few deep breaths and focus on your intent. this may be something like “i wish for restful sleep this night,” an affirmation such as “i shall sleep peacefully tonight,” or however you like to phrase your intent.
with the line you have chosen in mind, light your candle, directing the energy of your intent into the flame.
once lit, gaze into the flame. try to keep the flame calm, steady, and gentle, just as you wish to feel in your sleep. while doing this, tie the loose ends of the thread together away from you to close in the peaceful energy, and push out any stress, fears, or worries you may have.
from here, you may touch each stone, if you wish, both thumbs on the quartz and your indexes on the other two stones. feel the calm energy vibrate through your fingertips all the way up and through you. if you like, you may close your eyes and speak these lines softly, though this is not mandatory:
tonight i wish for the deepest sleep, to restore my mind, my heart, my soul, and peaceful thoughts that i shall keep
and when i awaken, morning light aglow, my gentle rested soul may rise again, to meet the light and keep it so!
stay still yet relaxed, fingers against the stones as you take in the free, weightless energy. when you are ready, you may take a deep, cleansing breath, and gently blow away the candle’s flame, thanking it for the peace and calm it provided you with, or you may set the candle beside your bed (preferably on a nightstand, but at least something stable) to burn out as you settle into your sheets and begin to grow tired.
thats all for this spell, though i do like to gather my quartz, lapis, and amethyst to set under my pillow to keep the energy connected to my physical self as i sleep!

A Spell For Getting Sleep:
I stole a bit from the wish everyone used to make when they saw the first star in the sky because I felt it might have the right power attached.
What you need:
• your voice
• your energy
• a place to sleep
What to do: Lay down and get comfy wherever it is you want to sleep, you don’t need to make any movements or anything.
Focus on how you feel when you’re peaceful and half asleep, or how you remember it feeling for my friends with insomnia.
Keep focusing on that and envision these words floating out of your mouth to activate them( they can glow, dissipate, or anything you want them to do):
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the sleep I need tonight
Not too early, not too late
Make me rested when I wake
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the sleep I need tonight
That’s it, sweet dreams!
