For here's what God told me: "I'm not going to say anything, but simply look on from where I live, quiet as warmth that comes from the sun, silent as few during harvest." Isaiah 18:4-6 (at Portland Observatory)
Keeping up with Ari required his Dad & Uncle Michael today! When he saw the massive blow up obstacle course, he said WOW! Then it was no stopping him! All this grandpa could do was watch & smile along with making good use of my I-Phone camera!
2017 Iowa Basketball Camp
Some photos from BB Camp this year. There is something special about working this camp each year! Former Director of Basketball operations, Jerry Strom deserves so much credit! Here’s a link to an article about Jerry when he retired:

Even though Jerry is retired, he will still drop by and say hello when camps are in session. It is always great to see him!
This year, I thought I’d try and share why I continue to return to work at this camp. Here are my thoughts:
First let me say it is NOT because of the money or the chance to move up the coaching career ladder! For me it is about the relationships, making memories and sharing life together even if it’s only once a year!
Each year I leave camp with more great memories. This year was no exception! While it is impossible to share everything, I do want to share something that seems to be a highlight for all of the coaches. It’s those times we just get to set together at the end of the day and eat pizza and even have great milkshakes on the weekly chalk talk evening. This year Assistant Coach Kirk Speraw did the traditional chalk talk night since Fran had an commitment elsewhere. The discussion with him didn’t even get into the X’s & O’s but were more about what it is like being a coach at the division I level along with how that life impacts the family, etc. I won’t go into any specific details because what is said isn’t really something that needs to be published on some sports page. We get to ask anything we want and the answers we hear are real and authentic. There’s a trust and bond that exists which is very special.
There is no doubt Iowa fans have their opinions about college coaches. I’ve heard them and often there can be some pretty negative things said and written. So I guess that’s why I decided to write this blog. I wanted folks to step back and remember that college coaches are people who have families too. They’re not perfect and they recognize they get paid very well. So next time you want to criticize a college college coach, I hope by reading this you hesitate a bit and remember they’re also just guys who like to set around and tell stories while eating pizza together. Thank You Coach McCaffery and staff for treating us with so much respect and appreciation. It is always a pleasure to work your BB camps! -Jon Williams
It's now officially summertime! (at Downtown Des Moines Farmers' Market)
It is great to be teaching business classes at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa! “I’m living the dream!”
