Living Style: The Role of Color in Home Staging
Sherwin Williams recently posted a great article on color in Home Staging. I thought some of you out there would enjoy it.
U.S. home sales are finally on the rebound after falling sharply about five years ago. Even with this promising news, the housing market is still slower than before, and buyers are more cautious and savvy than ever. Therefore, it’s crucial that sellers find ways to make their property appealing to buyers on that first glance. Read more...

Why Are Bathrooms So Often Overlooked?
Whether your bathroom is small or spacious it is important we keep them up to date...not just for selling but for everyday living.
In the past eight months I have seen numerous bathrooms as I am also in the market to purchase a home for our family after relocating to another state. The bathrooms have varied in size, color, and decor but I have had very few make me say "wow" now that is an awesome bathroom.
There are a lot of simple things you can do when decorating your bathroom to give it a special touch and add personality. For example, when you change the color of the towels, you can transform the feeling completely.
Below are some tips to creating style in your bathroom to help you enjoy these often overlooked rooms.
Update Faucets: It’s one of the most frequently used items in your bathroom, so it’s important to select a faucet that truly reflects your style and current trends.
Update Hardware: A bathroom is not complete without hooks, towel bars and a toilet paper holder. Coordinating bath hardware items can liven up your old bath décor and add impact to your bath’s overall design.
Update Light Fixtures: Add ambiance to your bathroom with new lighting. Consider updating the existing fixtures or adding a few decorative sconces to complement the faucets and hardware. Lamps placed on the vanity are a very popular décor style and are a great way to add light.
Paint The Walls: Whether you want to create a luxurious master bath or a comfortable and cozy guest bathroom, color plays a very important role in the atmosphere or feel of your bathroom. Color in your bathroom can help create that special retreat or escape to refresh and recharge.
Add Personality: Use accessories to bring in your personality to the space. Choose coordinating towels and rugs to add color. Organize cosmetic products in decorative apothecary jars for flair and function. The clear glass adds clean lines to bathroom decor. Bring the outside in by adding greenery and fresh flowers.

Oh No, Not The Red Box!
Clutter, clutter, clutter...we all have it but what to do with it? I seem to collect my mail, children's school papers, and receipts into a pile. My pile grows and grows until it is about to collapse. At that point I finally take the time to sort my pile into three categories: urgent, important, and need to take care of at some point.
The urgent and important usually get handled in a timely manner but the 'need to take care of at some point' pile goes to the RED STORAGE BOX! Everyone in my family knows if anything makes it to the storage box it most likely will not surface for a good six months at least.
So how do we avoid the RED box? Set aside 10 minutes everyday to sort mail, children's school papers, and misc papers. Commit to at least once a week to handle the entire pile...avoid the RED box!
Happy organizing!

You've Decided to Sell Your House...Now What?
You've made the decision to sell your home and your goal is to sell for the highest possible price in the shortest timeframe. So you need to make your home appeal to as many buyers as possible. Buyers purchase more homes based on emotion than logic. You need to create an environment that the buyer can connect with.
Here are 5 simple steps to prepare the exterior of your home for showing:
1. Improve the Landscaping: If the curb appeal makes a great first impression, the buyer will want to see the rest of the home. Plant seasonal flowers, trim bushes, weed flowers beds, and cut the grass.

2. Clean the Outside: You want to let the buyers know your house has been well taken care of...so clean gutters, powerwash sidewalks, patios and exterior of the house.
3. Make Repairs: Buyers notice the smallest defects inside and out. Make a list of all the repairs and prioritize which ones need to be taken care of first. Work down the list until repairs have been made. You don't want to discourage buyers with water leaks or roof damage.
4. Make Your Entryway Inviting: You want buyers to feel at home. Declutter your porch, sweep and remove all cobwebs, refinish or paint exterior door if it looks tired, replace doorbells, add greenery and flowers.

5. Welcome Mat: Buy a new mat to make buyers feel welcome in the home.
