People know that like…otherkin and therian community history is documented, right? I get it will definitely be confusing when a person can ask for information on otherkin and get wildly different definitiions from people who all label themselves with the same words. But like…Orion Scribner‘s Otherkin Timeline exists

I could, off the top of my head, think of 3-4 people I know personally and could message right now who were at Alt.Horror.Werewolves when the Therian (then Were) community emerged. I’ve only identified as a therian for a few years but I know the community history, I know about the Elf Queen’s Daughters in the 1970s and the first Howl in 1994. I learned these things because: 1. These things are written about, recorded, archived 2. The people are still here. That community is still here. It’s like the dang “Stop telling people I’m dead”/”Sometimes I can still hear his voice” meme. While I understand misinformation is rampant, it’s really frustrating to see people throw up their hands and go “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Guess we’ll never know what Otherkin really means!” while the elders of the community (and their records) are right the heck there.

So I think I am ready to announce something!

I not only identify as a spotted hyena, but also a dragon! I have known about this part of my identity since 2016, a year after discovering the nonhuman communities. So even longer than my hyena identity. I also commissioned an artist on tumblr in 2017 to draw me, which is the art below!

There is still plenty to discover about myself as a dragon, and I may honestly make a dragon side blog for it! I don’t wanna talk too much about it on here, because I know this is known as a therianthropy blog. If I do end up making one, I will definitely let you all know the blog name!

What is, respectively,the best horrible animal design

every living thing on earth is in a neverending game of Chicken with natural selection, staying juuuuust enough ahead of the curve to avoid extinction. this minimum-effort strategy breeds a LOT of weird-but-fairly-effective designs, but the Pipefish is objectively just pretty terrible.

they’re basically just straightened-out seahorses that get the worst of both worlds, lacking the seahorse’s strong grabbing ability while also being such a weak swimmer that they can’t deal with any kind of current at all! 

they SUCK, is what I’m getting at here.

but you know what? they’re also POSTIVELY DELIGHTFUL.

pipefish come in a frankly astonishing array of colors, shapes, and sizes, and I frankly would not want to live in a world without them.

Dragon Diary 3/1/21

Sorry for vanishing again for a while. Physical health took another nosedive and my mental health followed, as it does. Got my Juice [read: cortisone shots lol] so I’m slowly starting to feel a bit better.

It’s hard to consider kin things when in such a state. But I suppose I should mention a few things--

I’ve been feeling my earfins a ton the past month, and still am. Normally when I have ear-related feelings they are more feline in nature, seemingly related to my leopard self. But that changed recently for whatever reason and it feels really cool. <3

Since Pokemon Day was recently I also had many thoughts regarding one of my more prominent fictotypes, that of a Charizard. Not much, besides realizing I may have had 90s Charmander-like spinal protrusions even as a Charizard. Quite the revelation, since I hadn’t had any real idea of what my ‘Zardself looked like [besides, you know, a Charizard], until then!
