Well, I thought you were thirteen, so— I guess we’re even.
Oh, you’re a double major. How have you been holding up? We don’t dig. We report.
Okay, fair enough.
I'm uh, surviving. But only barely.
We? You're a journalism major too?

Upon the latter, I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve more than made up for the workload of my group assignments due to these assholes investing all of their energy on the case. Hence why i’ll take anything that gets this place back to some sense of normalcy, be it a simple drunken evening at the warehouse in celebration of one the worst holidays. Tradition shouldn’t be ignored, even in the wake of tragedy.
Like to get straight to a list of facts I see - journalism doesn’t surprise me then. I’m Alexander.
Well, you have a point there. I guess the other factor that's playing in is that I'm not very fond of the idea of drunk college students. Not exactly my favorite thing, especially when I'm trying to study.
I'm going to take that as a compliment.
Alexander...we definitely haven't met before this encounter. But it's a pleasure.
I mean, it’s the students that are throwing me off. Some people are just taking it as if it were a joke, or just another criminal justice assignment. I don’t like it. It’s changed around here, obviously, but it’s just…changed. As if the murder somehow brought out the repressed sides of some people…
I’ve seen you around, but I’ve never actually met you. I’m Cobie. Sophomore, political science and journalism double major.

Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s one of the worse qualities about me to her.
Both my parents, actually. They met in college and took over New York together, I guess. Well, we’re both in Alcott now, so I think I’d rather have you as a comrade than a rival. Especially since we’re not even competing in the same classes.
I won’t mess with you too much, I promise. I know when to be serious and when not to be. I’ll text you everyday when the next game is so you’ll have it rooted in your memory and so you’re pumped for it.
Well, if it helps inflate your ego, I'm sure my girlfriend would just eat it up.
You have a good point. We Alcott-kids have to stick together. Especially now, with the stuff that's going on. And speaking of classes, I should really be studying...
Well, my phone is on silent most of the time, so who knows if I'll even actually see your texts. I've been told that I am a very bad texter.
Yeah I get that… wait, how do you know it’s someone on campus? Like, where she was killed is able to be accessed by nearly the whole town surrounding campus.. there’s no sure fire way to know it was even a student or a teacher.
Oh, well, I mean, he’s technically my half brother, but yeah I do.
I can be persuaded to lunch, ha. Ugh and I’m really sorry about that comment too. Totally uncalled for.
I mean, it's more of a gut feeling, so I can't really say I have anything beyond reasonable doubt or anything. It was a hyperbole, really. But I mean, you never know.
Well, lunch it is. How does Ina's sound to you?
I hope they aren’t like that— because if they are, I think I might drop out of law school.
Oh, c’mon, why’re we bashing a fantastic major? I honestly don’t think a journalism kid is a prime suspect for something so morbid. The best part of journalism is finding evidence.
You're in law school? Wow, not gonna lie. I thought you were still an undergraduate.
Oh trust me, I love my major..er, one of them. But it's not surprising, especially with all of the digging you would have to do.
It’s a bit obvious that this campus isn’t suffering from a lack of awareness. It’s been over a month and campus security still has to keep swarms of reporters from trying to sneak on campus. There is not one place on university grounds where you can go without hearing the name Posen. This whole affair is turning into a circus. Let’s leave solving the case to the professionals, mourn as we should, and attempt to find a shred of normalcy in this mess of a situation.

How ‘shocking’ would it be if we found out it was a criminology major who did it? I wouldn’t be shocked at all.
Oh, super shocking. Maybe they took the class just to learn how to evade the criminal justice system.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if one of the journalism kids did it either. It'd just make for a great article.
This is Alcott.
Touche.
So, how've you been since our late-night walk?
Better for things to be getting back to normal around here if you ask me. I’d rather have everyone talking about a little holiday party than applying their deep knowledge of criminals from that one semester of criminology they have under their belt.
The nonchalant attitude of it all is really putting me on edge. There's a killer on the loose. Killing people. Killing girls. I'd rather not have people act like it never happened. I'm sure that the more aware people are, the less likely the killer will strike again. But that's just my two cents.
Welcome to Alcott. This is a classy establishment. We don’t care about killers.
Well, that's clear enough. All the criminology majors seem to be having tons of fun with it.
It’s Alcott, sweetheart. What else would you expect?
I guess I expected for everyone to be focused on the upcoming midterms rather than the upcoming Thanksgiving party. But I guess, in a way, it's a good way to get away from everything that's happened...
Whichever one works for you, really. I’ll still be there for back up if you need it.
No, I didn’t mean it like that… I just wanted to create a name for myself, you know? I didn’t want to be ‘that doctor’s son’, I just want to be Matt. I didn’t want to go a school where they’d already have a bias about me despite never having met me because of my parents. That’s all.
I’d be so disappointed if you did that, cheer for number eleven… Unless I miss a pass or drop the ball. It doesn’t happen often, but don’t hold your breath. In a couple weeks, don’t worry, I’ll give you a few weeks heads up so you don’t miss it and you can rearrange your busy schedule.
What a gentleman. I'm sure your girlfriend loves that about you.
Oh, your dad's Harvard alumni? My parents both went to Yale, so I guess we're supposed to have like, some deep-rooted rivalry or something. Although I only know this because my dad is always talking about it.
Number 11. Alright, I'll keep that in mind. And if I'm not there, if you can find someway of getting me back, go for it. But here, I'll give you my number so you can text me the details. And meticulously remind me.
You’re fine, really. I think we both said some things we didn’t mean and yeah. Shit happens. Oh, did you know Geraldine or something? Well, thankfully my brother’s gone to find it for me, so I should have it back in a few days, at least. And the guy who took it’ll end up with black eye which is always nice.
It’s like I said, you’re fine. Really. Been a long day for the both of us so I think I can find it in my heart to forgive you.
No. No I didn't know her, but the fact that there's someone out there targeting girls terrifies me. I mean, you never know who it could possibly be, right? And I'm about 100% sure it's someone on campus...and it's just, scary. I don't really know who to trust.
Oh, you have a brother?
Well, if there's any way I can make it up to you...perhaps lunch, maybe? It'll be my treat. Since you know, I'm a snotty rich girl.
I’m not so sure about mine, but we’ll just have to see if our first platonic date goes well. Don’t worry, if it’s really too much, I’d be more than happy to foot the bill… But only if it’s expensive.
Really? That confident, huh? You know, I was almost afraid I would get denied and I’d be forced to go to Harvard. I fully believe I’m actually a lot better here, something about the air quality. Yeah? You’d do that for me? I feel special now, I’ll be looking for you at every game from now on. Hey, if you work hard like you are now, I highly doubt you’ll be unemployed for long after college, though.
Don't worry. Daddy has my back. And technically my mother too.
Forced to go to Harvard. Wow. I don't think I've heard anything more pretentious in my life. Well, that's a hyperbole, because I've heard my rich, detached parents say many many things far worse than that.
Of course. Although I'll probably end up cheering for the wrong guy, since I don't really know the rules of the football field. If you don't mind that, then yes. When's the next game?
Right. Look, I’m sorry for being a bitch, okay? It’s just been a long day and my lighter.. it’s just really important and it means a lot to me and I’m just frazzled that I don’t have it with me. I’m sure you’re really nice and all so. Yeah.
I’m only at Alcott cause it was the only school I didn’t miss the acceptance deadline for. Plus, it’s pretty damn far away from New Orleans and my mother. That’s not… so surprising me too. Disappointing, kinda, but not surprisng.
...I should be the one that's apologizing. I instigated this whole...thing, so. Yeah. I'm sorry. I've just been really on edge since the news about Geraldine, saying things I don't really mean to say, so. Yeah, sorry. And I'm sure your lighter will turn up eventually.
Oh. I see. Well, yeah. I apologize again for my bitchy attitude. Hopefully I can be forgiven.
A killer's on the loose and yet the priorities are the Thanksgiving party. Why am I not surprised?
