Now, if it’s something I don’t have to do and don’t want to do, that’s different. Some things that I have felt this way about, I didn’t do anything about either. What I have noticed that has happened personally for me, is that some time later.. maybe months or years. I have a change of mind and at this new point those things make sense. I chalk it up to me now being ready and in the place to do that thing. So I move accordingly. Discipline isn’t about forcing yourself to do everything, it’s about being intentional. Your brain isn’t meant to run on constant pressure; it also needs clarity and choice. Forcing yourself in those moments can build resentment and mental fatigue, not discipline. Instead, you pause and ask yourself if it aligns with who you want to be or where you’re going? If the answer is no, letting it go is not laziness. It’s self respect. Real discipline is knowing when to move, and when something simply isn’t yours to carry
Cherubs by Raphael (Italian, 1483–1520), oil on canvas, 1512 -1513
Feeling the urge to prove yourself to people, is because there’s a part of your identity you haven’t fully owned. So you start seeking validation externally. When your real life is aligned and full, you naturally stop performing for outsiders
If you feel the need to prove your success then you probably don’t feel stable or confident in your current direction
If you feel the need to prove you’re desirable there’s a part of you craving emotional safety or self worth
If you feel the need to prove your value you’re probably ignoring your own needs or goals
