If Scylla and Raelle part ways after tonight’s episode it would make sense.
I, like most of you, want nothing more than for them to be together. They are endgame. That’s a fact.
But at this point in time it would make sense for them to make peace with each other and go on their separate journeys for a little bit. There are a few reasons for that.
Number 1: Being physically together at this point in time is damn near impossible. They are trapped on opposite sides of this military induced slavery system. Raelle is Alder’s most prized possession, her Hail Mary to cling to power and keep the military industrial complex running as it is. She is not going to let Raelle out of her sight any time soon and therefore running away from the army is not an option right now. Plus Raelle wouldn’t abandon her unit like that unless they agree as a group to go AWOL (which is a possibility if we are indeed headed for a revolution). Scylla on the other hand in her current headspace would put aside her hatred of the army to be physically close to Raelle (she is literally doing that this episode). But, the bigger issue is Scylla is on Alder’s unforgivable list and I don’t see Alder caving when it comes to letting an ex-Spree agent back into Fort Salem in light of all the attacks on her own life and how hell bent she is on blaming the Spree for everything that goes wrong. So no matter what, right now they would realistically have to physically separate when this mission is over and figure out a way to see each other/ stay in touch.
Reason 2: They are young and on the paths of figuring out who they are. They both have not fully processed their past traumas and reconciled with their current situations. Raelle’s life imploded, her mother lied to her, and she has this new magic she didn’t ask for that makes her a target and almost killed her multiple times. All of that takes time to deal with and that’s not going to happen with one conversation with Scylla. Raelle needs time and space to actually process all of this before she is okay again. Scylla on the other hand is lost and alone. She’s clinging to Raelle right now for many reasons, but to have her abandon everything just to follow Raelle would ultimately stunt her character growth. She is in a position where she needs to choose who she wants to be. Does she stay with the Spree? Does she try to join the army? Does she stick true to her mission to protect all witches? This is a big cross road for her and could shape her future in a major way (redemption arc maybe?).
Yes, parting ways means less screen time together and I know that sucks, but honestly they’d be better off reuniting again when they are more stable as individuals and in a place where physically being together is feasible. Their relationship initially began due to deception and they both deserve to choose to be together because they want to, because they are in the right emotional space for it. Not out of necessity or because they were forced together by external forces. But because they want to and I think they both need a little bit of individual growth before they are truly at that place.
