@cocowathead
If you’re going out to protest today/tonight, know your rights.
Write the green and black cross protest support number somewhere on your body in a pen that won’t get smudged.
Remember that the only thing you have to tell the police is your nationality (if you are asked) and that if you are detained under Covid legislation, the police do not have the right to your biometric data (fingerprints/DNA).
What is actually happening, with like this protest thingy, and what is it about? I've haven't been listening to any news recently so I'm sorta confused. (Sorry if this is a stupid question)
It’s not a stupid question don’t worry, it’s reasonable to take breaks from keeping on top of the news all the time, and if you haven’t been paying attention to the news then you won’t have heard about what’s happening.
A woman called Sarah Everard went missing at the beginning of March, a body was found a few days later, and it was confirmed yesterday that the body was hers. A police officer called Wayne Couzens was arrested on suspicion of murder, and was charged yesterday with her kidnapping and murder.
A candlelight vigil was organised today in honour of Sarah at Clapham Common, the group that initially planned it chose to cancel it because of Covid concerns, but another activist group said they would still be attending, and the vigil still went ahead. People were socially distanced and wearing masks and it was completely peaceful until the police showed up and started using violence on the people there, and notably they waited until it got dark before they started to get physically aggressive. It was a peaceful candlelight vigil to pay respects to a woman murdered by a police officer, and the police waited until it got dark, and then started being violent towards and manhandling the women there.
Also, I forgot to say this in my original answer, but the group who initially planned the vigil had tried to work with the met to plan the event safely and legally, but the met refused
The police refused after it became known they had arrested a suspect who was a police officer. According to the organisers, before that it seemed like they were going to get permission.
my utopia
The drag queen from this photo has spoken up about the photo.
I won’t speak for all liberals, but I’d like to see a future where it isn’t a big deal for a woman in full modesty garb to sit next to a drag queen in NYC. It’s become a bit of a sensation, but her and I were just existing. The freedom to simply be yourself in a sea of people who aren’t like you is a freedom we all deserve.
The central irony is that this isn’t some hypothetical future–it’s just present day reality. This is a picture of two ordinary people going about their normal lives despite how haters want to politicize it lmao. So the underlying message is not “future liberals want” it’s “people conservatives want to eradicate”
the underlying message is not “future liberals want” it’s “people conservatives want to eradicate”
Someone calling me 'good girl' is like the best trigger for all my attention and my mind just goes "yes that's meeee now please tell me what more I can do for your to hear you say it again"
In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.
In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.
Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.
Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.
i hope every lesbian gets to feel how it feels to have another woman be just as crazy about you as you are about them…. not having doubts or confusion.. I wish this with all my heart, for every lesbian, especially trans lesbians.
this is horrible but its accurate .
girls who switch between being bratty & disobedient and submissive & embarassed are such a fucking treasure
Anyone who responds to people hating Starmer with "oh I guess you want the Tories to win then?" needs a fucking slap.
We had an alternative option and people like Starmer are directly responsible for killing it.
Starmer is not just a Labour leader who isn't left-wing enough. Even Blair kept a lid on the most blatant racism until he was in government. Even Blair wouldn't have boasted about putting people in prison for dealing a bit of weed whilst refusing to call for corrupt government ministers to resign. There's everything to suggest Starmer would be a worse Prime Minister than Blair, a true threat to democracy, a proud racist and a dangerously amoral leader.
Starmer has decided without justification that the candidates for Liverpool mayor are not what he wants, so the application process will be reopened. He is a racist who refuses to acknowledge police brutality in the UK and ignores significant complaints from black and Muslim party members. He is an antisemite who would rather suspend Jewish leftists than have an adult conversation about how the antisemitism crisis was inflated by centrists for their own purposes. He is an egregious transphobe who won't discipline bigots in his own cabinet. He is a Tory who chooses to neglect his role as leader of the opposition in the doomed hopes of picking up a few Tory votes in 2024. He is a cop-loving bastard who loves poor people going to prison. He is motivated by an unreasonable hatred against leftists, which trumps any wish to stand up against the Tories at a time when the government has murdered 120,000 people.
The man is concentrated fucking evil and will burn in the same pit as Johnson when his time comes. Big fuck you to anyone who thinks there's a moral justification for supporting him, and if I see anyone tell another black, Muslim or trans person that they are "privileged" for refusing to support him then I guarantee they will want to delete their entire online presence once I'm done with them.
*jumps over my problems* parkour
What is this chapter of your life called?
Mental illness and drugs

this chapter of my life is called (damn bitch you sure you’re alright?)
YAAASSS!!!! Sometimes it starts as just staring…. but then you get the creeps who will follow you. Be aware of your surroundings and if you see something happening/happen, don’t be afraid to “get in the line of sight” or saying something!
even if you’re “not all men,” if you’re in a position to do or say something when you see this type of aggression and don’t, you’re complicit and still part of the problem
stop whining and learn
Yes, this! Especially when you KNOW the person. I’ve been in so many situations where some guy (often a coworker) decided to get his creeper on, and all I ever wanted was for someone else to call him out instead of pretending to not notice what was going on. It’s exhausting having to be the one to say “stop” every time. It’s exhausting having to deal with some arsehole’s “i just meant it as a bit of friendly teasing” over and over again.
Please take action when you see this kind of stuff happening. Doesn’t matter if it’s creepy staring or physical advances - DO something so we’re not left to feel alone and even more traumatised.
dont cry because it happened, smile because its over
