Hot and Cold for Constant Joint Pain
So I'm getting a lot of questions personally from my blog recently about hot and cold compress-ing my wrists so I decided to create this blog. This one is not only for the wrist but also for the constant joint pain we experience all over our body. Ice cold pack and heating pads are the first things that come to our mind in soothing our pain. Both of them are effective, but you should know the option that's best for you.
Here's how to help joint pain through hot and cold compress.
Heat Therapy:
Steamed water is relaxing. After a long day of work, soak your body on steaming water while sipping a hot coffee or tea. Stiff muscles and joints can be relaxed if exposed to heat. Not only it improves your blood flow but also relaxes your body generally. Additional tip: Using warm bathrobe and bath towel can add to your relaxation. It's one of the simple luxuries in life!
Precautions:
Make sure the temperature is within your level of tolerance, you don't want to burn your skin.
On hot compress, use a soft cloth in between the heat source and your skin.
Avoid putting directly to a part of your skin that has open wounds.
Never exceed 20 minutes when doing heat therapy.
Cold Therapy:
If you feel a burning sensation on your arthritis, use cold therapy. Apply an ice pack to numb the area that hurts. According to research, placing a cold pack can reduce inflammation and can make the swollen joints go back to their original size.
Precautions:
Do not apply them directly. Using cloth can prevent damage.
If you have problems with blood circulations, stop immediately.
If you experience redness or blisters, remove immediately.
Never exceed 20 minutes when doing cold therapy.
Hot and cold therapy are just two of the best and quick home remedies you can do if you're in pain. Doing hot and cold alternately is also recommended, as it's excellent in reducing pain. For best results, do this along with your arthritis pain relief medication or seek some advice from your doctor.

Then Vs. Now
Things I didn’t know back then, but I do now:
To draw hair is not to draw all the different strands of hair. Hair is ONE entity, to be drawn as one shape.
If you don’t get the proportions in your basic drawing right, no matter what you do, your final output is going to be awful (see left.)
Smudge sticks are your best friend, USE THEM MORE THAN YOU USE PENCILS!
Cheeks have shapes too.
Draw shadows, not objects.
Use the darkest, softest pencil you can get your hands on.
70 GSM printer paper DOES NOT last.
Use a camera which doesn’t add a red coloured time stamp to the picture.
Hopefully, I’ll keep learning more :)
Wow! This is awesome.

Wrist Joint Pain When Drawing
A lot of people are asking, "What does arthritis in the wrist feel like?" oh well, believe me, it sucks! Drawing can cause strain on our wrists. I've been a professional visual artist for almost a decade now, and the same as athletes who cannot play when they are injured, it's so hard to draw when your wrist is in pain.
We know how important our hands are as artists, and it's unfortunate how it often leads to arthritis (my fellow artists can relate!). One day I decided that I had enough. I have too many deadlines and clients who depend on me, and I cannot let the pain hold me back from being productive.
I have listed down all the best ways that worked for me to fight wrist joint pain. It might work for you, you should give them a try!
Pay Attention - We tend to forget to pay attention to how we place our wrists when we're on a laptop, working, watching shows or even lying down. Sometimes, putting your hands in an awkward position is exhausting your joints, so be aware to always put them on a neutral or comfortable position. Put some cushioning or anything that would make you comfortable.
Use Hot and Cold Compress - Take advantage of hot and cold compress alternately in order to soothe your pain. Cold compress reduces inflammation and hot compress refreshes and improves blood flow. Both are the best!
Stretching - Simple wrist arthritis exercises 30 minutes a day can make a big difference. Sometimes I do the "close-open" thing like a baby and it helps me soothe the stiffness on my wrists.
Wear a Wrist Supports - Seriously, wrist supports can stabilize your wrists. Not only they reduce pain, but they also provide comfort whatever you do. There are a lot of kinds to choose from. Plus it's flexible and adjustable so no need to worry about the sizes.
Creating art if your wrists are painful could be hard but with the right care and precautions, nothing is impossible. The four things I mentioned above are just basic wrist care routine that I do every day, but if you feel like there is something serious going on, I advise you to go to the doctor right away.
