Earned My CompTIA Security+ Certification
Just passed the Security+ exam. Didn't grind through any study materials, I just went in cold and passed because the fundamentals stuck from my high school.
Why It Matters
Security+ is DoD 8570 baseline for government contractors. I'm serious about working for companies like TVA, Southern Company, or Duke Energy on critical infrastructure, and that path basically requires a clearance. This cert is step one.
My TVA internship showed me what applied security actually looks like: vulnerability assessment, red team operations, real infrastructure at scale. This cert just formalizes that I can talk about it in the way the government cares about.
Going Forward
Longer term, TS/SCI clearance if the opportunity comes up. Right now it's about signaling that I'm thinking strategically about my career, not just building random projects for the portfolio. The skills matter. The credentials back them up.
