Home || Trish & Cody
The pressure of life was building, and taking on project after project at work was ceasing to be any help for Trish. It had been years since she last saw Adam but he was the one. She knew it them as much as she knew it now, there was no denying the love they shared. It was real and unhinged. Trish was beginning to think she would never find that again and it would be too late for her.
The pressure and stress was driving her off the wall and she dreaded the mornings she had to get out of bed. She needed something real, something substantial and with that thought in mind she opened her laptop and booked the first ticket out. A few hours later she was still in her pajamas on her way to Cody’s house. It had been a while since she last saw her brother and she needed him, she needed to cling on to someone before she completely fell apart. With three quick raps on the door she waited for him to answer, showing up unannounced she hoped he’d be home.
Trish’s hear felt lighter when she heard the unlocking of the bolt, bouncing in place; the nervousness engulfing her but she needed to fall apart and she knew no one better to help her put herself back together. When the door swung open she engulfed her brother in a hug the tears she’d been holding back for years finally falling from her face. Cody smelt of home, her little brother through the bickering and through the fights had always been her safe place. Loosening her grip around his neck she calmed her breathing and pulled away just long enough to mutter “hi” under her breath. “Cody, I don’t know what I’m doing anymore” she lowered her head looking at the ground.

Cody accidentally dropped his phone the moment his sister hugged him. It took him a second to understand what was happening, but even in shock, he didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around Trish and hold her tight, "When have any of the Millenders known what we're doing with our lives?" he replied, stroking her sister's hair with his hand, "You're going to be okay, sis" he assured her, even when he didn't know Trish's complete story. Not that they shared much with each other anyway, and it wasn't that they didn't care, but sometimes text messages and phone calls weren't enough to communicate, let alone visiting each other. Cody loved New York city, but it did bring him bad memories of a time on his life when nothing was alright. L.A was definitely his home.
"You're lucky you don't owe me a new phone. I just got this one" he joked after picking up the mobile and pocketing it. Then he grabbed the girl's hand and led her into the apartment and to the messy living room, not before hurrying to pick up trash from left overs and hiding behind his X-box his newest illegal purchase. He also felt lucky, and kinda disappointed, that his friend had just cancelled their plans. If Trish had arrived fifteen minutes later then everything would be really different at the moment.
Sitting down next to her, he reached for her hand, then he pulled her into another hug. Sometimes when Cody was with her sister, he still felt that eight year old boy walking into his big sister’s room in the middle of the night after having a nightmare, “I mean, I won’t complain or anything, I’m actually glad to see you” he meant that, “But what’s going on, Trish? What are you running from?”
