Christmas special // The Millenders
It was the night before Christmas. Cody Millender, sitting at the edge of the large, black couch, smiled sweetly at the girl standing in front of him as he stopped playing his guitar and eyed her, -I’m so glad you’re here- he admitted, pressing the instrument tightly against his chest and stroking the strings with such ability it almost seemed like the guitar had sang for itself. Around them, the Larson-Millender apartment was decorated in red and white colors, the tree shone tall and intimidating, and the fireplace, carefully built at the end of the room, roared with such intensity, it gave the boy a weird feeling of being trapped in some kind of Christmas movie. His smile became wider. It had been a while since he had last felt so peaceful and happy.
-Long time no see, sister- Cody pointed, pulling away the guitar and making the move to stand up in front of her, opening his arms and walking a few steps forward -You’re not going to hug me or what?-
Trish walked slowly into the room where her brother sat. The apartment was quiet, the peaceful playing of the guitar being the only thing that broke the silence. She stared at her brothers hands as he ever so lightly strummed each note. Looking around she marveled at the carefully placed Christmas decorations and the beautifully lit tree standing tall making everything feel like home. Trish looked away from the tree when she heard the music come to a stop, as her little brother, who wasn't so little anymore mentioned how glad he was to have her there. She smiled slightly not saying anything. She watched as he got up and opened his arms wide. Getting waves of nostalgia she tried to shake off. -I guess I can- she said with a slight shrug of her shoulders, when he asked her if she was going to hug him. She walked up to her brother and gave him a hug, -glad to be here little bro maybe I can put some life into this party.-
Backing away from the hug she looked around one more time before taking a seat on the couch. She went into her normal state feet on the couch thighs presses against her chest -It has been forever, that's my bad, what have you been up to Cody? How's life been treating you? You look happy- she smiled. She had noticed the peaceful, content look on her brothers face.Â
