Eating Real Food Day 14
Eating Real Food Day 13 -
Felt super balanced today about my eating. I think so much of that starts with better sleep and a good breakfast.
I’ve been working on two separate research abstracts that are due for submission tomorrow. Exciting times! I’m truly having such a good time with my projects. Both are on the topic of pediatric health (one is about opioids and the other about the effects of maternal diabetes). I am super excited about the process for both as well as the outcomes we’re seeing. I’ve always like kids but because of these studies I really feel like this is the field I’m being called to.
Of course, I’m an M2 so I have some time to make up my mind!
Eating Real Food Day 12
Breakfast - toast with roasted red pepper spread, avo, and cucumbers + salt and pepper. 🥑
Lunch - naan, dhal makhani, and baingan bartha 🫓
Snacks - sliced apple and celery with PB 🍎 🥜
Dinner - super random, but I had silken tofu with a spicy garlic soy sauce mix that I made. Plus a quesadilla lol. hit all my cravings 🧀
Dessert - half a brownie with icing on top!
Definitely a better day than yesterday but I could do better.
my brain was going a million miles an hour today and I’m exhausted. I couldn’t focus on a goddamn thing. So I just napped and watched tv instead :/ I finished Big Little Lies which was fucking fantastic.
Eating Real Food Day 11
I ate a lot of random stuff today including the above, some leftover Olive Garden and some cookies, a little candy
I think it’s cuz I was too tired to have a real dinner so I ate bunch of random snacks instead. Not feeling great about it tbh idk
Did get a workout in. 12-3-15 + 25 minutes of plain old walking. My uterus was unhappy
I’m just calling today a wash. Tomorrow will be better

Eating Real Food Day 10
Breakfast - avo on multigrain bread and pesto-fried eggs.
Lunch - green grapes, and a Kind bar. Oat latte with a lil caramel. Not much of a lunch tbh but ya girl had a rough day of classes. I had cramps from HELL today. Hard to care about learning the types of leukemia when you’re sweating from pain
Dinner - garlic naan, dhal makhani, and some salad 🥗
Dessert - a few skittles, a few sour patch kids (my favorite candies)
Currently in bed doing charts for my research with a hot water bottle strapped to me. That’s life folks 🩸
Listening to hematology lectures during today’s workout.
Warm up - 5 min walk, 3 mp, incline 3
5 min, 3 mph, incline 12
3 min, 3 mph, incline 3
5 min, 3 mph, incline 12
3 min, 3 mph, incline 3
5 min, 3 mph, incline 12
3 min, 3 mph, incline 3
Then time to chill - 20 min, 3 mph, incline 1
So today was 12-3-15 with walking breaks, and I burned 302 cal! Working my way up to 12-3-30 with no breaks!
Eating Real Food Day 9 -
Breakfast - Greek yog, blueberries and chocolate granola, plus an unsweetened oat latte.
Snack - Strawberries, green grapes
Lunch/Dinner - garlic naan, dhal makhani (a creamy lentil curry) and egg curry all made by my mama 🥰 Dinner was the same except with dhal and baingan bartha (smoked eggplant curry). Sometimes it’s hard to remember that healthy eating doesn’t have to be an American-centric diet. My native cuisine can be healthy and is packed with nutrients, even if it doesn’t look like a salad or a grain bowl.
Dessert - a little iced brownie with sprinkles, banana chips. Tbh I was stress eating a little today but I’m glad I can recognize this.
Eating Real Food Day 8 - Monday
Ok my start to this week has been a little rough. Had a bagel and schmear for breakfast. My snack while I made my 2 hour drive back to my apartment was a pretty big cookie that I stress - ate. Lunch was a biiig salad 🥗- kale, spinach, baked tofu, sprouts, red pepper, tomatoes, cucumber and lime cilantro dressing. Strawberries for my snack. Dinner was a big cheesy Olive Garden dinner with my parents who came to visit. Felt kind of guilty about all the indulgences today, tbh.
Pretty tired at school. Immunology sucks the life right out of me. So many things to do; so much research to get done, so many club events to run; barely any time left to study.
I did do a decent amount of cleaning that I’ve been procrastinating for a while, which felt good. Here’s to a better tomorrow in a clean room!
Eating Real Food Day 7 - Sunday (yesterday?
A chill day of going through Hematology lectures (painful slowly, I gotta be honest). I squeezed in a great workout of 10 minutes walking, 15 minutes jogging, and then an incline walk. My new goal is this 12-3-30 workout, where you set the incline at 12 and walk 3 MPH, for 30 minutes at a time. It’s actually super exhausting and I only got to 10 minutes.
Breakfast - scrambled egg and Muenster sandwich on sourdough, and coffee. Lunch - a little sandwich soup combo from Panera as a treat! Dinner - an apple and another PB&J because I was lazy, tbh.
The first week has been rough but I am so proud of the sheer amount of fruits and veggies I’ve been able to get into my diet, how much more water I’ve drank, and the huge step down in the amount of packaged food I’ve eaten. Honestly I feel like it’s helping my focus as well.
This med student is moving upwards and onwards!
Reblog if you’re an active studyblyr please.
Hi, Im trying to find active studyblrs and medblrs to follow as my timeline is practically emptyy reblog if you’re active and you’re looking for accounts to follow. 21/1/2022✨
Eating Real Food Day 6 - Saturday
Breakfast - Toasted everything bagel, strawberry cream cheese and natural peanut butter.
Lunch - Carrots, spinach and artichoke dip.
Dinner - Two fajitas with veggies, beans, some salsa and cheese.
Dessert - Walnut brownie.
Did a full body strength workout today! About 30 minutes, with 5 pound weights. I’ll work my way up soon!
Eating Real Food Day 5 -
Had to venture out into half a foot of snow today at 8:30 am in my flats and business attire since I had ECS today (Essentials of Clinical Skills) for our practice Full Body Physical Exam exam. I’m always more in my head than I expect to be.. usually because I could have practiced more. But I did okay, and the SP was kind enough to give us a lot of great feedback about how we did. Pulm is my biggest weakness, I think.
Breakfast was two fried eggs, a piece of toast, and a few orange slices.
Ate a peach and the rest of the orange with some trail mix as my snack.
Lunch was a GORGEOUS creamy salad with kale, spinach, marinated baked tofu, grape tomatoes, sprouts, avocado and cilantro lime dressing. I’m loving having a bunch of ingredients that I can use for various things like sandwiches, stir fries, and salads.
Dinner was an easy PB&J and a little walnut brownie.
Eating Real Food Day 4 - Dinner
Veggie soup. Multigrain toast with sun dried tomato spread and goat cheese.
I’m on the motivation rollercoaster y’all and I’m still waiting for the climb
Eating Real Food Day 4 -
It’s been harder today. Just a little tired and a little lazy to put together something with lots of veggies.
Breakfast - bagel sandwich with eggs and American cheese. Proud that I packed this (in a mad rush) for my 8 am case. Pro tip for busy students: eggs can be salted, beaten in a small bowl sprayed with a little oil, and tossed into the microwave for 1:30-2:00 to cook while you hastily toast a bagel. Throw a slice of cheese and that fluffy microwave egg on there and head off to class. Fastest breakfast sandwich you’ll ever make. And a childhood staple of mine.
Lunch - A bowl of pongal, a sort of seasoned rice porridge that is a a South Indian staple. My mom’s pongal is fantastic. Also had some more raspberries.
Snack: some kettlecorn and a couple pieces of chocolate. Matcha latte that I made.
Eating Real Food Day 3
Last night I did a wind-down yoga video and did some core exercises, maybe 20 minutes total. It’s not much but I got so out of practice of doing any workouts except walking or running, and it felt great to get back into it. I slept like a rock after that.
Today: I’ve learned my lesson! I made my breakfast a little bulkier today with an extra egg, fruit and dates, and toast with roasted red pepper spread, so I wouldn’t be so hungry all day. It would have been more delicious if I didn’t get busy prepping for a meeting and have to eat it cold 😅
Had a meeting with the other committee leaders for our Health Fair Committee, which is putting on a free health fair! Super excited for that. I’m heading the Triage team and working out a lot of the logistics and flow of the fair as well as the initial patient screenings.
Lunch was a banana and a new variation of my sandwich - this time with garlic-marinated baked tofu, cilantro lime dressing, sprouts, kale, avocado and red pepper. So filling, so delicious! I had to remove myself from the room where my group does case together so they wouldn’t have to be subjected to watching me very messily eat that thing.
For my snack we brought the leftover apple pie to class to share with my case group.
My mind has been all over the place today, honestly; I’m still pretty antsy. So many tasks and so little time.
Eating Real Food Day 2 - Dinner
Simple red miso ramen with bok choy, celery, baby bella mushrooms, a little gochujang and green onions. Never forget the egg for ramen!
I had a pretty anxious day. I wasn’t physically feeling too bad, with the heart racing or tight chest or anything, thankfully… but I know I’m getting there when I get super antsy, can’t sit still, and can’t focus on any one task. Going to try hard to get though one more lecture tonight as well as go through at least part of one medical chart for my research. I’m a slow worker so these are lofty goals, but I’m well fed, and the anxiety is fairly low at the moment, so I think I can do it.
Hematopoiesis drugs, here I come!
