Hi Mel! I think it's wonderful you have decided to make a studyblr and your posts are very cool! Could you share something about you so we can know more about your interests and so on? Why have you decided to open a studyblr? For how long have you studied your target languages and why have you chosen them?
Thank you so much! I obviously just started this studyblr so I’m still getting a hang of everything! Here’s a little about me:
My name is Melanie but I go by Melanie or Mel!
Currently double majoring in Civil Engineering and Pre-Architecture
Entering my junior year at an engineering university in Ohio, USA
I’m originally from near Boston, MA!
I’m an INTJ according to all the online tests I’ve taken and an INTP according to the official test. So somewhere in the middle there!
Learning languages + learning about languages
I’m currently learning Korean and Swedish! I took Spanish in high school and may get back to it at some point.
I became interested in Korean when taking taekwondo since a lot of the names of forms and things we learned were in Korean. My aunt also moved to Korea to teach linguistics at a university and would post statuses in Korean, which got me interested in the writing system (Hangul). I’ve been studying it off and on for about 3 years now!
I started learning Swedish about 8 months ago, because (if all goes well) I might be studying abroad at Lund University! I wanted to know at least basic Swedish by the time I go, and fell in love with the language once I started learning it!
In general, I just love learning about languages too, even if I’m not specifically trying to learn them! I considered majoring in linguistics. :)
Reading! I’m currently reading A Sense of the World by Jason Roberts, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, and Dead Wake by Erik Larson
Traveling as much as I can. Most recently I visited Pittsburgh, PA and Israel and the Palestinian territories
I’m also an officer in my sorority (I’m our Vice President/Risk Manager/Judicial Board chair), so that keeps me pretty busy!
I’ve followed studyblrs for years on my personal blog and always really liked the community. I finally decided to make one myself to inspire me to study and enjoy the process more, rather than just focusing on getting things done!
Thank you so much again for your message!! :)
