Good Knight is a solo roleplaying game about being a queen's sword and a queen's dog. One player, two mismatched dice, a pencil, and a service that runs six acts and twenty to thirty evenings.
HOW IT PLAYS
There are two beasts wearing your armor. The hound would die for her. The wolf would kill for her. Every time something matters you roll both dice, look at both, and keep one — and the better number is very often sitting right there on the table, waiting to see what kind of knight you are.
The whole skill of the game is temperance. Stay dangerous enough to be worth keeping, controlled enough to be safe to keep. Drift too far toward the teeth and you stop being able to choose. Drift too far toward the fire and she stops needing you. Both are endings. Both are love.
THE QUEEN
She has no character sheet, because you do not get to know her the way you know a sword. She has six faces instead — the General, the Saint, the Winter Court, the Huntress, the Judge, the Ember — one for each act, each with her own commands, her own praise, her own tells, and her own rules about when she will let you off the leash. There is a seventh face that opens only from her side, and you will not be shown it until you are shown it.

It's worse. The fictional SPARTAN program stole children from their parents, indoctrinated and surgically modified them, for the purpose of turning them against independence movements in the exploited off-world colonies.
This same government antagonizes an alien theocracy (which was a multi-species confederation and quite likely would have offered humanity the chance to join them) into declaring us anathema and trying to exterminate us, and the SPARTANs turn out to be essential to humanity's subsequent fight for survival.
Unfortunately, a lot of this plot is in backstory that's minimally surfaced in the actual games, so most folks' takeaway was, "John Halo doesn't afraid of anything."
transitioning is like putting on the They Live glasses and seeing that 90% of people looking at you are either jerking off or furiously sharpening a knife. or both. and i do not mean that in a sexy or fun way, and i dont like clarifying that, but i know there's a 90% chance you are thinking it, because i wrote it while being a trans woman.
when considering the sexual violence against trans women, it's important to remember that "people only view us sexually" does not mean the same thing as "people only find us attractive". it means "people can only conceptualize of our existence within a sexual light" because that's how the majority of our coverage in media has been tinged in the past century. as a result of the chaste and patriarchal nature of modern capitalism, gender and sexuality are inseparable in much public discourse by virtue of propaganda, and as a result, a trans woman is seen as sexual because efforts towards projecting specifically femininity is only categorized as sexual. and when paired with the uncharitable perception of "man", that propaganda can often evolve how people view us directly into "sexual threat" anywhere, for any reason. i could be in the freezer aisle of costco looking down at the ground while i push my cart and i'd still get dirty looks for wearing a dress (this has happened).
when i say "they're either jerking off or sharpening a knife", i mean we're either viewed sexually, or as sexually threatening, in almost all scenarios.
