My boys, Obito and Kakashi
Full credit for the pose references goes to the original artist. (I couldn't find the original source, but the poses are entirely theirs.)

another attempt at greyscale to colour. this one gave me so much trouble;; I wasnt fully sure what colours to make obito's clothes, my first attempt was so hilariously colourful he looked like a peacock
Army dreamers
day 4
day 15 // team minato
Rin being a plot device, she doesnāt get much of anything in terms of development in the series. But the fandom has found many interesting interpretations about her that I really like exploring, so I wanted to add mine (I have already drawn some ideas on this post and this post).
My version of Rin is sort of similar to Obito's version of her but toned down, in the sense that she is kind and supportive but she is much more passive about it. She does genuinely care about the people in her life and constantly supports them (like she did with Obito), but she never actually does anything impactful outfront. Sheās quite passive, sheās a bit distant despite loving her team deeply, like Minato. For example, her attempts to break off Kakashi and Obitoās arguments do feel a bit half-hearted. Itās true that itās not her job to make them be friendly with each other, and she does get pissed with all their nonsense in the end, but she doesnāt reach out much and keeps herself to the sidelines with Minato. In a similar vein, she actively avoided topics that would make Obito understand Kakashi better, she kept quiet about Kakashiās father for years instead of encouraging Obito to ask him about it.
Outside her close circle she is not as altruistic as Obito is, but the hardships of war have made her sympathetic towards the hurt and lost, which is why I think she chose to become a shinobi healer despite being from a civilian family. But war has also made her resilient, and not always in a good way. However she may feel about it, she is quick to accept the cruel reality (like when she accepted quickly in Kannabi that Obito was going to die and his final wish) instead of trying to change it or rebelling against it. As a result, she does not bat an eye to gruesome deaths or Konohaās misgivings, she just keeps going forward. In fact, she may be just as indoctrinated as Kakashi is, which is why the only time she actually does anything to change her situation is when the threat of the Sanbi becomes too great.
Overall, she is an observer. Her support meant the world to Obito, and it truly was admirable, but she never could connect with the team as closely as she wanted to. She was still a child, so these issues couldāve been solved as they grew up, but she did not get any time.
When big stars die they explode into Supernovas and sometimes turn into Black holes afterwards.
I was thinking of Naruto and Obito being suns but Obito is a dead star and how his story reflects a star's life and how Kamui is like a black hole so I made this :>
Like Naruto and Sasuke are the sun and moon, Obito and Kakashi are a dead star and a brightless moon.
Obito is my second favourite character and it pains me how mischaracterized he is, his story and mentality is so interesting like how he chooses to live under the lie that the world is fake to cope with the pain but how he still doesn't want to kill Kakashi. I love him so much.
On a side note this artstyle looks so cool but it's a lot of work. Here's a different version of the Supernova one:
I meant the ship in general not the orientation but you're so right why do people despise kkob like kkob used to be more popular than obkk, like Sasunaru to narusasu level of switch up š let both orientations hold hands and kiss
ikr!! tho i think lately sasunaru has been slowly getting the same kkob hate. very strange...
Tbh I'm pretty sure the kkob sasunaru hate stems from misogyny and forcing gender roles onto queer ships like naruto and obito are more bulkier than sasuke and kakashi respectively so people look at their body types then make the "weaker" one the "woman in the relationship" the bottom, while the bulkier "manlier" ones get made into the top.
Plus a huge portion of Mlm fandoms are cis het women where some (not all obviously) try to reinforce their beliefs about this by hating on anything that deviates from their traditional gender roles like Kakaobi where Kakashi the skinnier man tops obito (again nothings wrong with having dynamic preferences but harrasing other people for liking the opposite orientation of a ship as yours is not okay!)
That's true. Fandom going basically mainstream these few years is probably a huge proponent of this problem. A huge influx of people that doesn't know fandom etiquette jumping in bashing everything they dislike instead of the long-established rule of don't like, don't read. I feel like mlm also used to be pretty teen-adult based, until tiktok (derogatory) became a thing, and all the kids started flooding in without bothering to learn the specific rules, and going >:0 i dont like this, im going to say how much i dislike this loudly and get all my friends to do the same. the amount of moral crusades ive seen... not sure if this verbal vomit made sense, but its kinda whats been nagging me (the way the 1cm height difference between obkk getting exaggerated is both annoying and insanely funny)
dont understand why its a common take that obkk cant work (even as friends) because kakashi is too hung up on his ideal version of obito.
because obito did know this and tried using it to basically seduce kakashi on his side by promising him his ideal version of obito (and rin) and kakashi refused.
he didnt want to be with his old team in some dream world but he was rather willing to keep obito alive and make him atone somehow. he was ready to have this bitter, broken, defeated version of obito over the childhood fantasies. he asked him not to disrespect the real rin and her sacrifice. later he even tried to die with him.
atonement and death was more acceptable to him than a false version that doesnt exist anymore even if he caught a glimpse of it and that was enough for him. people underestimate kakashi if they believe he cant work through this with someone like obito who he cares about that deeply. its not impossible even if it might take some time.
Even if it made for unnecessary hatred of the characters and eternal bitching from the fandom, I do really like that neither Sakura nor Rin ever felt apologetic for not returning Narutoās/Obitoās feelings. Sakura tried to confess to Naruto, incredibly self-sacrificingly, but it was emphasised that she never truly meant it; she felt like it was her duty. She was pressured by those around her into feeling like it was HER fault that Naruto had a crush on her, and this was swiftly pointed out to be unethical. Sick of stories where the girl settles for someone she doesnāt initially want just because heās āsuch a nice guyā, he likes you so much, you should give him a chance. Part of the reason so many people hate Sasuke/Sakura (and sometimes Iām one of them, donāt get me wrong) is because they expected a formulaic resolution where the MC, the hero who proved himself, reaps the rewards of a previously uninterested womanās affection
I lovee love obirin for that exact reason. she wasn't in love with him and yet cared for him deeply as a person and a friend, was always there for him in life and in the afterlife AND VICE VERSA she's the most important person to obito no matter if she likes him back or not. they have this connection that transcends crushes. thats why even if when they got older kakarin got together, obito would've been genuinely happy for her, because what makes her happy is whats important
+ everything about sakura is yesyesyes, she doesn't owe her feelings to naruto or anyone
