So, I painted this because I felt like the play was about life, you know, and life is full of colour and we should get to come along and we add our own colour to the painting, you know. And even though itās not very big, the painting, it sort have to figure that it goes on forever, you know, in each direction, so loke to infinity, you know, ācause thatās kinda like life. It was really crazy, if you think about it, isnāt it, that a hundred years ago some guy that I never met came to this country with a suitcase. He has a son, who has a son, who has me. So, at first when I was painting it, I was thinking, you know that maybe up here that was that guyās part of the painting, and then, you know, down here thatās my part of the painting. And then I started to think what if weāre all in the painting everywhere. What if we were in the painting before we were born, what if weāre in it after we die. And these colours that we keep adding, what if they just keep getting added on top of one another until eventually weāre not different colours anymore, weāre just one thing, one painting. And my dad, heās not with us anymore, heās not alive, but heās with us. Heās with me everyday. It all just sort of fits somehow, even if you donāt understand how yet. People will die in our life, people that we love, in the future, maybe tomorrow, maybe years from now. I mean, itās kind of beautiful, right, if you think about it, the fact that just because someone dies, just because you canāt see them or talk to them anymore, it doesnāt mean theyāre not still in the painting. I think maybe thatās the point of the whole thing. Theres no dying, thereās no you, or me, or them, itās just us. And this sloppy, wild, colourful, magical thing that has no beginning, has no end, itās right here, I think itās us.
