Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot DD Arbois rouge 2014. This is the wine that started it all for the Tissot family. After serving in the Algerian War, andre returned to his family farm in 1962 to tend the cows for dairy production. Although Andre always dabbled in winemaking on the side, it was not until 1968 that he completely strayed from dairy, and focused on wine production. He bought 0.38 hectares and began to produce quality wines. In an effort to differentiate their wines from the three other Tissot families in the region, Mireille (Andre's mother) appended her name to the label, making the estates official name: Andre et Mirielle Tissot. While it was Andre's son, Stephan, who is credited for the estates numerous medals and awards in the early 1990s, organic certification in 1999, and biodynamic certification in 2005, it is Andre that we have to thank for the foundation upon which Stephan built off of. Traditionally the estate was known for their blends of Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard, which is what the DD Arbois blend still is. Benedicte and Stephen's wine is more styized and varietally focused. I only felt it appropriate to try the original blend before delving into the numerous other cuvees that followed suit. #wine #french #jura #tissot #poulsard #trousseau
