I am convinced Clonelin could try to kill Collin at anytime, they even tried to attack him once, but currently chooses not to. I mean, beyond there being no mirror-dimension when Clonelin attacked Collin, just punches, as that could be because the idea just hadn’t been chosen on yet since it was the first episode, Clonelin at best appears to need their prey startled or something to use it. The remote gorrister doesn’t display outright fear, not immediately anyways, so it likely doesn’t rely on that like Souler, but rather is closer to Assimilation’s, which seems to have little requirement beyond proximity. Clonelin hasn’t tried once though, which seems to imply one of a few things:
1, Clonelin doesn’t simply want to kill Collin, but replace him fully. Decently likely, but Clonelin can type unflawed sentences like at the end of the tunnel, which make for a better mimicry. Why keep the flaws, to get Collin guard down, despite it not having worked yet?
2, Clonelin cannot due to an unknown rule. Likely, but unfun.
3, Clonelin would receive little to no benefit, such as if it can only kill the player character, not the player, or if you could will yourself out of it, but the remote gorrister lacked that will. Same as 2.
4, Clonelin doesn’t want to, because it doesn’t truly want to harm Collin for some reason. Perceived friendship? A sense of rivalry? A sense of admiration? It wouldn’t feel right? Unlikely, but fun.
5, Clonelin is more concerned over stealth over the true extent of their abilities than success. I mean, why even use Collin’s form, if he clearly sees the differences, instead of the silhouette-like form we saw them take when startled? A bit unlikely, but a fun idea.
In short, why the hell are both of them so enigmatic? Like, Collin is clearly treated with a level of respect, in the same way a minor authority figure they hate, and caution by the admins, and Knows Stuff. Clonelin is just plain weird, and no matter what motive I try to see it through it seems to act just a little off from how it should, they also Know Stuff, why do they insist in being Collin even to another entity who knows they aren’t, why is Clonelin a black blob when startled, is their “true” appearance bring reminiscent of Assimilation of all entities a coincidence due to the simplicity of the design, and so much else. Not even mentioning the fact they can actually SPEAK unlike basically every other entity! Is Clonelin secretly powerful? I really hope their character and relationship with Collin gets more fleshed out.
