Yesterday, Rainer and I wandered down to Sunset Park to get lunch in Brooklyn's Chinatown. All the dim sum joints were closed, so we settled on noodles. I ordered knife cut noodles with aromatics, which I figured would be vegetarian, but when the server yelled the order back to the kitchen, I realized I'd unwittingly ordered beef intestines. I was too proud to change the order, but hey, they weren't half bad!
July 23 Occasionally this summer, have woken up to a squirrel digging through my window box. On Saturday, noticed a half-eaten crabapple in my planter and joked that my tiny friend must have left it as payment. Sunday morning, over omelets and bloody mary's, Marshall watched said squirrel retrieve the apple and eat it on my fire escape.
July 11 Rach and I had a three hour lunch at Barney's. We split a big salad, made lobster jokes and sat next to Wendy Williams.
July 8 Marshall and I went out to Coney Island for a baseball game on the fourth of July. The highlight of the game was a video played on jumbotron in which Pee Wee, the Brooklyn Cylcones' mascot, performs a pitch-perfect Single Ladies. A few days later, we manned the bar at the N+1 issue 14 launch party midnight - 2. Earlier that day, it was 100 degrees but we tucked into an icy cold theater at Anthology Film Archives to watch Nanook of the North.

Rach and I had dinner last night at this diner Tory Burch likes on the Upper East Side. [EDIT 7/14: Spike Lee likes it too] [EDIT 8/3: Peter Kaplan likes it too.]
Shared dessert; something called Sundae Fantasies. Recommended.
June 27 Have been lazily looking around for a bridesmaid dress in salmon, conch pink, simply grapefruit, rosy fingered dawn, etc for my pal Jana's wedding. Strolled around soho today after a client meeting, expecting the streets to be lined with postcard racks. Wanted to find a Greetings from New York! to send to Marshall while he's away in Montreal. No luck. Either Soho's not the hotbed for tourism I thought it was or it's becoming less trendy for tourists to send postcards home. The internet is killing postcards! The postcard is dead! Long live the postcard!
June 26 Fifty more pages of writing for my independent study. Who knows how many more lines of code left for my websites. Totally moonstruck over Connoisseuse of Slugs by Sharon Olds. And best for last: cucumbers finally in season!
