Troy and Harris lay in bed together, on their sides facing each other. Troy traces his finger gently over the large heart surgery scar on Harris's chest.
"I know you don't love them, but I do." Troy says quietly.
Harris closes his eyes and lets his boyfriend admire him. He feels his calloused and strong fingers trace the sensitive tissue trailing down his sternum.
"Your big, beautiful heart," Troy murmurs.
Harris feels his fingers trance over the lines under his pecs. He opens his eyes to see Troy staring at his top surgery scars with the same reverence.
"You know those aren't from my heart surgery right?" Harris says.
"They're not?" Troy looks surprised.
Harris can't help but laugh. "No, silly. They're mastectomy scars, from my top surgery."
Troy blushes. "Oh, that makes sense"
"Did you think they had to go at my heart from different angles or...?"
"Shut up I don't know anything about heart surgery or being trans." Troy was laughing too now. "I just assumed your boobs like, went away."
"Ugh, I wish it was that easy. But you've seen my sisters; we're a well-endowed family."
"I'll admit I've never looked at your sisters' boobs."
Their laughter ebbs and they settle back into comfortable silence.
"Do you like them? The mastectomy scars?"
"Yep. A lot more than the big one. The recovery was actually pretty easy since I was used to being cut open."
Troy nods and ducks his head, planting gentle kisses to the bumpy lines. Harris closes his eyes again and sighed, happy to be adored by the man he loves.
