how do u render so good/what references do you use for rendering?

HELLO!!! I am assuming by rendering you mean my shading process ^_^

I’m going to give you a text based tutorial to yield similar results but rest assured I have plans to make a full tutorial sometime soon!

STEP 1! Choose a brush that is really blendy or painterly

STEP 2! Use a really dark grey and fill in the darkest shadows, repeat twice more for medium and light shadows! [blend as you see fit!]

STEP 3! throw that layer on multiply

STEP 4! [probably the most important one!] This depends on your program, but download gradient maps and start applying them to the layer untill you get something that fits the vibe of the piece

STEP 5! OPTIONAL! Go over it with a glow dodge layer and a color with a bright hue similar to the piece and highlight some places that may have gotten lost between the shading
