Recently played and finished Gris… what a beautiful and wonderful game. Short and packed! Consider checking it out if you haven’t, it’s definitely worth it and is definitely bite sized, which I really enjoyed!

so, i’m not usually a gamer...

but lately i’ve been playing this game called GRIS, and let me tell you—it is just beautiful.

the game is all about the five stages of grief. each level is a different stage as well as a different colour, and the experience of playing is sometimes serene, sometimes spooky, and always breathtaking.

one of the reasons i find it so remarkable is because of the art and animation. below are l screenshots of some of my favourite backgrounds so far.

and the entire thing is just breathtaking. the goal is to collect these little floating spheres of light called “mementos” that allow you to progress through different levels and continue through the game.

the mementos are all really tricky to find, so oftentimes turning back is the best option when you want to find something. in one of the levels, there are musical crescendos that correspond with events & obstacles in the game, and in the background are windmill cues for when the obstacle—a sandstorm—will come.

the controls are really simple & easy to use as well, and the animation flows perfectly with the game. it’s just a beautiful game overall, and i really recommend it.

Took these pictures ages ago and totally forgot about them. Stitched them together today. Had to edit it a little so that the light beams would line up. Hope it isn’t too obvious.
