I had the thought when I was going to sleep last night, Star Trek is set in the future. That means they were demonstrating things that were different in the future, like how the Russians and the Americans are buddies now. Being gay was getting slightly more accepted so in the future, it would definitely be a thing. So what if Kirk and Spock were actually in a relationship the whole time they didn’t state it out right because people in the future would understand that was what a relationship looks like.

I can’t be the first to think of this right??????? Like this is why it’s so canon because we are in the future and we know that gay people are great and can love and it’s acceptable and it just looks like any other relationship we have nowadays.
