Coma 1
A man retreats into coma for the first time in his life and he genuinely believes it was a mistake not to have done so earlier. The streetlights drift and streak across the remains of vision, like sparklers burning shapes into his eyes, rain touches his face but his face is going with him. He shrinks, tumbling into nothing, leaving just empty clothes against the cold concrete, soaked and freezing. He can barely remember it now, he floats downwards, a very slow fall, sinking through cool nothing until he touches the bottom and takes a breath in, sits up and blinks at a ward, nine years later.
