Guys look I found Alex from Target!
I am a bisexual, non religious, white crossdresser.
Those are the labels that have been placed upon me by society. However, those definitions are simply a form of communication. So many people feel a desperate need to fit into a label/box, whether for security purposes, or simply to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. Some people label in order to clear up confusion and define or defend themselves⦠whatever the reason, human beings are constantly forming stereotypes and systems in order to create⦠order.
We categorize our lives, our entire beings, with a few, cookie cutter labels. I am black/white/hispanic/etc, I am gay/straight, I am male/female, I am religious/atheist, I am liberal/conservative⦠I am everything in between. However, a label is a set thing⦠it is limiting, it is restricting, and it is something that no one can live up to. Everyone sees the world through their own vision, their own experiences, and their own lives. No one is the same, and no one is perfect.
We are human.
You are human⦠you are not a group, you are not a label, you are you. You are not to be put in a box, you are not to be stereotyped, because no one can truly fit a stereotype. You may check off a few boxes in a list of traits, but you are utterly and entirely uniqueā¦
Even in our similarities, we are different. We are individual. We are a driving force with the power to think, feel, create, love, destroy, hate⦠But in spite of our individuality and our personal experiences, we can work together and connect.
You do not hate or disapprove of an entire group of people⦠you disapprove of a system, a system of stereotypes and norms that has created a sense of being. A system we are all born into and living in, a system that has been developed from generations past and centuries of change and human progression/digression. You disapprove of a system that has created the theory that people are to be judged not by their individual experiences and worth, but the category that they have been placed in based on a list of traits they may possess.
Do not claim you are looking for equality when your actions and words promote hatred or a desire to āturn the tablesā for your gain at the expense of others. This applies, always, to both opposing sides of any argument.
Create a world where value is placed on the individual, not the person they choose to love, the color of their skin or the equipment they are born with. Donāt wish harm on those that believe differently or do you wrong, Donāt look down on others for their circumstances, choices, or lifestyles, Donāt hate those that are better off, Donāt pass judgement on those with differing belief systems.
If you want acceptance, if you want equality, if you want love, If you want to make a change for the betterment of humanity and those you consider like minded, you will not humiliate, devalue or dehumanize any group, race, gender, preference, or belief⦠you will raise yourself up and bring everyone with you.
This world must steer away from the open brutality that this society has cultivated, and the harshness that the internet has provided.
We may feel safe spitting poison and anger from behind a computer screen, but the impact those words have on others is far reaching, and it is there for the world to see, over and over and over again.
What kind of print do you want to leave on the world? What kind of image do you want to portray, and how do you want to achieve equality and acceptance and love, for yourself and others? By carving a scar across the earth with judgement and your own insecurities?
Nothing from the past can be taken away. You cannot erase anything. You cannot rid yourself of anything that has happened to you or anyone else. All we can do is build on whatās there.
Why live a life of regret and guilt for things that you or others have done? There is nothing we can possibly do to change it. It happened. We can only learn, progress, and become better. We can build on top of our experiences and the experiences of others. This world changes, but it does not lose a thing.
We do not lose innocence, we gain experience. The innocence is still there, because you experienced it.
We do not lose compassion, we gain apathy. The compassion is always there, because you experienced it.
Build. Donāt destroy. Donāt accuse. Donāt judge. Donāt tear others down, no matter how just the cause, no matter how justified you feel in your ārighteous angerā.
We can change.
Fear of the unknown is a driving force in creating hatred. Rid yourself of ignorance. Try to be understanding of people who view the world differently from yourself. Try to know them, to comprehend and learn about them and their views.
Being offended or hateful is a choice. No one can offend you unless you let them⦠it is your choice to take the words or actions of another person and put weight to them. You have complete control over how you react and how you view this life. You can make the decision to delve into the minds of others and understand where theyāre coming from, even if you donāt agree with them. You can choose to repay cruelty with caring.
We are all human, we all make mistakes, we are all learning together.
Work on healing yourself, not trying to fix or correct others. You have plenty of wounds that need mending, donāt bleed out while you try to sew up someone else. Donāt point a finger of blame at others and turn a blind eye to your own hypocrisy.
Your words carry a lot of weight. Your actions have power. No matter how unloved you may feel, no matter how difficult your life may be, no matter how cruel others may be to you, no matter how sad and alone you may feel, no matter how right you think you are⦠do not be the one to make another person endure that. You know how it feels to be in mental, and sometimes physical agony⦠so why would you ever wish those feelings on anyone else?
We all experience our own brand of emptiness. Do not poor venom into a wound that is already gaping.
Instead use your words to heal. It doesnāt take a lot to make someone feel a little more whole, a little less lonely, and a little more included and accepted. It doesnāt take a lot.
We live in a world plagued by insecurities. Everyone has them. But insecurities are nothing more than an absence of self love. Find your self love. Find yourself, and the world will change.
You can begin, with your own actions, to fill the void humanity has created, and close the gap. You can choose to let history teach you, and change the views of the future. It is our job to lead this world towards positive change, and inclusion for everyone. It is time we embraced our differences and celebrated them, because no one is the same, and if we choose to segregate we will all be alone.
Everyone matters, everyone has worth, everyone deserves to be loved for who they are⦠not what the world decides they are. We are human, and we deserve to be loved and treated with respect. There is so much good in the world on an individual basis. Donāt turn a blind eye to it. Develop a positive outlook, for your own sake and the sake of those that share this world with you.
We are humanity. We are the individual. We are the future. We create our own realities.
I Am Me.
If you ever think that you're awkward, just remember that me and my best friend tried to take a picture of this hot waiter...by pretending to take a selfie...and the flash was on.
