Ashton shook his head, putting his arms out to my little girl running towards him and picking her up, swinging her round; laughing and giggling with her before letting her sit on his hip.
âDid you have a fun night with mummy?â She asked, gently taking a handful of his hair and twirling it around her little fingers.
âWe had a lovely meal, I had to wear a fancy schmancy suit and everything.â Ashton smiled widely, winking at me. âDoesnât mummy look like a princess?â The pair of them stared at me with doe eyes and I couldnât help but blush.
âMummyâs a queen!â She threw her arms in the air, giggling excitedly as Ashton tickled her and spun her round again.
âToo right.â I agreed, kissing her cheek.
âSay âgoodnight mummy!ââ Ashton waved melodramatically at me and I kissed my baby girl goodnight, letting Ash read her a story and praying she didnât call him âdadaâ again whilst I paid the babysitter and made sure his dad was there to pick him up.
When I got back to the flat, Ash was silently closing my little girlâs bedroom door. He spotted me and took my hand, sitting me down in my own living room and wrapping his arm around my shoulders and kissing my temple. âDonât apologise for her calling me dad.â
âNo, getting approval from her was more difficult than getting approval from your dad and it meant more to me. But donât tell your dad that.â He gushed - his smile suggested he was actually really happy with the whole thing.
âShe really does love you.â
âAnd I love you, forever.â He kissed my temple again.
