I was too busy flappin' my gums to get a good photo of Jeffrey Burroughs at their campaign event last night, but let me tell you, I've never known a political candidate to usher in so much joy, genuine welcome, and singularly divine fashion - all in one person.

Since their amazing work in the wake of Helene, JB has easily become one of my favorite people in Asheville. Burroughs unintentionally became the "Mayor of the River Arts District" by jumping into action immediately after the storm.

Jeffrey utilized their positive relationships with national media outlets across the nation to bring attention to the great needs of the RAD and Asheville at large. They also rolled up their sleeves and got to work, co-creating a multi-pronged approach to getting the artists back on their feet, and even resurrecting one of the best parts of The Marquee.

Their many investments in our city has been nothing short of heroic. And it continues on...

New to the local political scene, Burroughs is transparent about their excitement to learn more about the needs our city is facing. From their deep dives into our transportation issues and housing blight, exploration into the countless fractures in our overall infrastructure, and even joining the APD Civilian Academy this fall, which I highly recommend, I was impressed to learn last night about the many tentacled investments Jeffrey Burroughs continues to make in our city.

After President Barack Obama's public service in Chicago and the White House, I don't recall being this excited about a political candidate since Bernie Sanders ran for president in 2016, and locally, when Kim Roney first ran for the Mayor of Asheville twelve years ago. Remember those fun bumper stickers with Kim riding on her trademark bicycle?

The City of Asheville has a great deal to be proud of in Jefferey Burroughs. I'm thrilled we get to watch them in action. Their future is so bright that they've gotta wear a fabulous pair of blinged out shades. 😎

I've got mail!

This little Polaroid is the first time I've laid eyes on my child in eight months. And she's less than ten minutes away in the house I still co-own, but haven't stepped foot in nearly nine years as of Thanksgiving 2017. I wonder if my Grandma Olive's pearls are still there or if they've been pawned off for the next Billy Strings bender?

Can you imagine this brand of chronic cruelty?

The longer this goes on, the more shell shocked I become. There will be consequences for everyone who aids and abets my child's abusers. At the very least, parental alienation is the most base type of child abuse. As the guilty party's and their co-hort's silence wages on, please know I've begun contacting each of your employers this week.

Your silence is compliance with violence.

The content of Sylvie's card is so funny and so her. Replete with a glow-in-the-dark duck. I'm thrilled to learn that her BFF, pictured above, introduced my daughter to Beavis and Butthead. That's essential 90s viewing.

Now, I cannot wait to introduce Sylvie to the B+B spin-off Daria which also happens to be the name of our favorite barista in town. And! Our "AVL Daria" is Ukrainian. She's such a badass. Sylvie loves her. Our Daria misses her, too.

I couldn't help, but chuckle hard that Sylvie is throwin' birds the right way in her photo. Just like I taught her. What a hilarious person.

She is worth every single ounce of pain and struggle. I will never cease fighting for my child. That's what mothers do.

I'm happy to see Sylvie is still a justice seeker at her very core... Even on behalf of paw paw tree owners she doesn't even know. That's my girl. 🌈
