how to stop binging permanently
i struggle with cycles of extreme binge eating and then starving myself silly and i've finally found the best way to avoid binging when i'm fasting or restricting
don't eat food you enjoy. period.
what triggers a binge? food so good that you can't stop eating. you have one bite of that sugary, fatty, salty junky food and you can't stop. but if you only eat extremely bland healthy foods that you don't really care for, you won't overeat. you'll think to yourself "why bother eating this bland healthy crap when it has so many calories and i don't even enjoy it? i'd rather just not eat" it sounds so simple but it REALLY works. the key is to start by letting yourself eat however much of these foods you want! and then you'll eventually just stop caring about the pleasure food brings, and you'll stop wanting to eat.
sugar, salt, and oil are what make food addictive - they're what make you keep eating and not be able to stop. so avoid added sugar/sweeteners, added oils, or added salt when you can.
my favorite foods like this are:
plain apple slices
grapes
plain brown rice cakes
forager plain cashew coconut milk
whole foods store brand brown rice crisps and whole foods store brand corn flakes (both the unsweetened versions)
unsweetened applesauce
frozen vegetables from trader joes like peas, corn, green beans, vegetable medleys, etc (check the ingredients because some frozen veggies have added salt sugar and oil)
unsweetened juices and smoothies with more veggies than fruit
bananas
gluten free pastas (with no added sauce or salt)
any kind of tea
baked potatoes (no salt or oil at all)
honeydew melon
and literally ANYTHING bland, unsalted, unsweetened, and healthy that you don't care about eating
and if you eat animal products, meat, and gluten you can go for very plain slices of toast, scrambled eggs, or things like that
this is the main method i used to drop 70+ pounds. trust me it works
and if you're in recovery ignore all of this and go get healthy baby, stay safe and take care of yourselves
a better tactic than buying small clothes to "fit into when you lose weight" - buy too small clothes and WEAR THEM so every time you wear it you feel how fat you are, and you want to lose weight quickly so you don't stretch out the clothes you just bought
me: hey i actually look skinnier! i think my hard work is starting to pay o-
my eating disorder: actually you look like this
me repeating the same binge-starve cycle for a month so i just keep gaining and losing the same 5 Ibs
