Like I said on the panel, I’ve been doing a lot of auditions lately, because a lot of shows are getting into introducing trans characters into their cast, because it’s such a hot topic issue right now and it’s so important to our society and in our world, and, you know, it seems fitting to have a trans superhero… and Supergirl stepped up and I stepped IN.

b) She is a Muslim superhero, in fact she was the first Muslim character to headline her own comic book.
c) Kamala is a teenager. When she first debuted, she was only 16 years old. She goes to high school and has faced Islamophobia from some of her classmates.
So everyone, please don’t fancast or even associate Kamala with the following: - White Actress - +25 year old Actress - Ethnically wrong Actress - Islamophobic Actress.
Kamala Khan is an extraordinary character that combines so many great characteristics that make her relatable and iconic. She is such a fangirl, her pop culture references are impeccable, and she is both a team player and a leader. Finally, I’m so excited to know that one of my favourite superheroes is coming to life.
