I’ve been deadass laughing for 10 minutes straight hELp
one of many reasons why videos of the Great Comet cast are a blessing: being able to focus on a different person every time you watch and have a new experience every time [x]
Another thing
Dave Malloy being made to feel like the show he created, composed and orchestrated, and re-worked over years to make it into the incredible, innovative and beautiful artwork it is now, isn’t attractive without a Big Name.
That it’s not worthwhile in itself, in its cast and creatives, and that there’s “no future” for his work
That makes me pretty damn sad
I am so upset over Comet. It’s crashing and burning and there’s nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing a lot of really great fans can do about it. I’ve even seen it multiple times but I’m helpless. This entire situation was a disaster and there’s nothing I can do to support it. I’m so angry that unlike most awards shows, the Tonys actually matter. Those fucking awards decide which shows get to live and which die, always prematurely. I love this show so much and I love the cast but these past two days have caused me so much grief. I don’t know what to do.
With Oak’s final performance set and Mandy withdrawing, these are the only options The Great Comet team have:
Close the show
Have one of their Pierre standbys to step in until they find a replacement
Have Dave Malloy (or Josh Groban, if he isn’t busy) to step in as Pierre until they find a replacement
Have another Broadway actor to play Pierre and have him prepare for the role in less than 3 weeks
This is what The Great Comet team are going to work on for the weekend and we all know we don’t want #1 to happen.

Please go see Great Comet
Great Comet is one of the most diverse shows on Broadway right now. You have a right to be angry. But please do not blame the entire show for the producers mistakes. They were trying to save this beautiful show from closing and while they could’ve handled it better, but in the end casting conflicts are irrelevant if the show isn’t running. If you can PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go. Don’t boycott because of Oak. Go for Denee. Go for Amber. Go for Shoba. Go for Azudi. Go for all the WONDERFUL people of color who are still in the show. Please don’t let this magnificent show close because of the mistakes of a few.
if great comet closes before the final cats revival performance then good theatre is dead, lads
U KNOW ONE THING THAT SUCKS IS WHEN U HAVE A OBSESSION OVER A SHOW AND NONE OF YOUR FRIENDS ARE REALLY INTO IT SO YOU’RE JUST THERE WITH ALOT OF FEELS NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO WITH THEM
I literally drag my friends down with me.
All three of my roommates sing great comet on a regular basis now

my favorite musical choice in great comet is when pierre says “you must understand that besides your pleasure there is such a thing as other people and their happiness and peace” and there’s the sound of a computer malfunctioning like as if upon hearing this anatole’s head is going to explode like the androids in star trek
