Killed a bunch of the cultists in Moonrise Towers before it was "time" (I helped Marcus kidnap Isobel and I'm going to kill Aylin -- sorry queen! -- so I won't have the Harpers with me for the assault) and I noticed that Roah Moonglow didn't react at all. She turns hostile if she sees you killing her customers in the Goblin Camp, but she's fine with you killing them in Moonrise. Weird.
Vivienne is such an interesting character in concept!
Unfortunately, she was written by BioWare.
Fun fact:
If you travel to Moonrise Towers with the Absolutist convoy and side with them against the Harpers, the Drider just stands in front of Moonrise for the rest of Act 2, and you can attack and kill him for his moonlantern without him fighting back
It's kind of messed up that even if you raid the grove and sleep with Minthara in Act 1, her approval starts at Neutral when you recruit her and you have to raise it to trigger her romance. Like the whole reason I decided to do an evil run is to romance her, but I'm almost at the end of Act 2 and she's still at Neutral.
One of the recurring criticisms of Dorian in the Dragon Age census survey was "The 'gay best friend' framing can flatten him into a stereotype" and I still don't understand why. Like a character being gay and having the potential to become the player character's best friend doesn't automatically make them a "gay best friend" stereotype (even if the fandom tends to shoehorn him into that role)
This irritates me so much and is, in my opinion, an intentionally bad-faith take on the matter.
His being gay is not a factor in their relationship. It is a part of Dorian's story, and the Inquisitor standing at his side and supporting him through a tough time with his father is something any good friend—anyone who loves and cares about someone else and their wellbeing—would do.
Dorian's story is less about him being gay so much as it is a human story about acceptance, and the hurt that can come from a parent not accepting that child (to the point they try to force change). You could argue that's something most if not all people have felt or experienced in some capacity whether or not it has anything to do with who they're attracted to.
My character is a female mage. While our Inquisitors' backstories are somewhat up to us, mine was intimately familiar with the feeling of not being accepted by her family. In her case, it was magic. In Dorian's, it was who he was attracted to. They bonded not just over that, but in a matter of shared goals, a sense of integrity, and authenticity. They respect each other.
They trust each other.
He is her best friend, but she would never view him as her "gay best friend." He's just Dorian. She values his opinion because she trusts his character, and vice versa. They aren't afraid to let each other in.
The only role his being gay plays in their relationship is in the fact it could never be romantic between them...and that's not a role at all. It's just a fact, like Dorian being a mage or from Tevinter is fact. It's one small part of who he is, but not the whole.
I don't understand how a healthy, believable friendship is considered "flattening."
Real friends open up to each other in tough times.
Real friends talk about life and relationships, with a few jests and friendly jabs in-between.
Sometimes, I think it's the fact that Dorian and the Inquisitor's friendship is so normal that throws them off and leads them to pursue a reading of it that doesn't exist.
Plus, I'll be blunt: Dorian's not exactly a stereotype in my opinion. He has the sass thing going and he's pretty (versus something like "rugged"), but that's about it.
He's one of the most beloved characters in the game for good reason.

Stanning a character who's almost universally loved/liked in the fandom is an unfamiliar experience for me but I'm not complaining

Everything Tim Downie says as Gale sounds incredibly sexy to me but there's something about his enunciation when he's explaining about the Orb and he says "it'd level a city the size of Waterdeep" that always has me like this

I think my approach to an evil BG3 run is different from anyone else's. Like I raided the Emerald Grove, but only after all the tieflings had been killed by the druids because I didn't want tiefling blood on my hands (especially since I made my Durge a tiefling), and I'm still doing a bunch of good deeds for the EXP. I don't have it in me to be a murder hobo
Sounds like I shouldn't bother watching The Vampire Lestat. I haven't seen a single positive post about it
Another weird thing about this evil run is that Gale still hated me for making him "participate" in the raid even though my party didn't participate directly -- the druids killed the tieflings and Minthara and the goblins killed the druids. Your hands are still clean, my guy; what's the problem?
I guess he got over it quickly since he was back to his normal chipper self after I long rested.
No but this is so fucking weird. The tiefling scout at the Mountain Pass was automatically hostile to me (even though I technically didn't kill any tieflings in the grove), but Halsin is chilling in my camp after I helped Minthara slaughter a bunch of his fellow druids. Has anyone else experienced this bug?
Finally convinced myself to do an evil BG3 run after 3 years and just ran into a hilarious bug. When Halsin showed up at my camp after the raid on the Emerald Grove, instead of trying to kill me, he...thanked me for saving the Grove. WTF bro, it's littered with the corpses of the tiefling refugees and your fellow druids. 😭
BTW I stole the Idol of Silvanus and let the druids slaughter the tieflings so only the druids would die during the raid. Thank god this option exists; otherwise I never could have gone through with it.
