Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
Benjamin Franklin (via perfectdiction-ary)
-Peter S. This is a really important idea for teachers and something I thought about during my observations.
"No, we have the right not to be offended"...

This video I thought was interesting and covered a lot of topics that we cover and see as offensive or social issues that are in urban classrooms every day, and if they continue at this rate, and even rise, how far will it get in the classroom? how much will it effect our students and the content that we learn? will it even effect it at all?

war vs education
#RyanG #job #war
Less students continuing their education to go to war. Many choose this because they think college isn't an option for them which is not the case.

Janesse Lazera- This 9 year old boy discusses how school closing affects other students and himself, and he thinks that the administration doesn’t care about anyone else other than their own kids. Schools should provide students with an environment of security and comfort.

The rewarding feeling that comes from teaching is something that makes teachers want to teach. Yeah, there will probably be bad days, but those good days make it all worth it.
The success of students will not come by forcing them to take tests and learn every subject, but rather let them take time to understand the material. It is also important for students to get the most out of their education.

Janesse Lazera - It is crazy to see how many school closures affected students from different races and students with low-income backgrounds. This relates to a lot of what we have talked about in class this semester. This issue can lead to more dropouts
I completed my first day working at a preschool. It was such a great experience; the children really remind you that life should be about happiness and not stress/bills/worry. My preschoolers are the best!! Drawn with Bamboo Paper for iPad.

Really when it comes down to teaching, it is about caring for the students. If you care about the students and are there for them, they will care for you. You want to be a teacher that was remembered for your compassion, not for being strict.

teachers should not just hide flaws in students work because they look pretty. School isn’t about the appearance, but instead making sure a child can improve upon as many flaws as possible, to make them into strengths.
This just shows how teaching for the test has impacted education. While many educators believe it is important to provide all the information to pass the tests, they forget about the fact that the students are not retaining the information
-Kelsey Mola
Urban schools have taught to the test which has established an issue for students who do not share the same abilities. Students have different ways and speeds at which they learn, leaving some at an unfair advantage.

Correct!

I completely agree with this statement! Teachers are expected to connect with each student and help each student learn in a way that works for them. Teachers are expected to be fun and energetic and compassionate and loving and encouraging. They spend hours planning lessons and in my opinion they are not given the respect and pay that they deserve. #expectations #respect

I love this picture. Money really is the main priority that people have on their mind that they forget to think about creativity and where they come from.

In the classroom if you give off negative vibes the students could feel them and start to act negatively too.
Be better than you were
