Intro!

Hey, I'm Shan. Finally making one of these.

I'm a novice (?) animistic witch with an interest in spell mechanics, spirit work and nature based magic. I've been practicing for a year.

I'm also a Hellenic polytheist.

I generally keep my craft and religion fairly (but not entirely) separate.

I mostly reblog. Not all of my posts will be witchcraft related, but all of my witch-related post are under #witchy stuff

This blog is proudly queer.

I love being asked questions about my craft! Within reasonable limits, AMA.

I use a lot of UPG.

What does “song” mean in the context of the silt verses poem? I’ve read it over and over and I have a couple ideas, but I am autistic and have a difficult time with anything that doesn’t have a literal translation I can match it with.

It's just meant to be a lyrical (or pretentious!) way of saying 'narrative' or 'story' in this context.

At the time I was specifically thinking of the famous first line of the Aeneid, usually translated as 'I sing of arms and the man', which similarly leads immediately into the storyteller getting distracted by agitatedly commenting on the nature of their own narrative (and specifically the underlying question of whether the gods are just or not).

Read Wikipedia articles, watch documentaries, take free classes, and delve deep into books and lore. Maybe I'm the only one who has this fear, maybe not. But learning for pleasure is just as much--if not moreso-- about the joy of the experience as it is about memorization.
