Hold me to this: I'm gonna make a post about All's Fair, compiling my thoughts on it because it's changed so much. My brain is rebelling tonight, but I absolutely will make a post (or more). So, please hold my feet to the fire. I want to get back into writing and posting on here again.
Round 23 Pride Edition???
The Master of Ceremonies is not dead! Just stressed and depressed. But I was thinking, and Pride month is a perfect time to have another Writeblr Hunger Games. So, once again: Have you wanted to put your characters in a life or death situation with other writeblrs' characters? Have you been hoping to write some good angst for them? Do you have a hankering for a potential rebellion against the powers that decided to make the Hunger Games in the first place? Or! Would you like to put your characters in a dating simulator since it's Pride month? Where they can fall in love with other writers' characters? Well, this is the event for you! I'll throw your characters into the Brant Steele Hunger Games Simulator!
If there's enough interest, we'll have another round! There are different options for this one! I would want all characters submitted to be LGBTQ+ in some way, and we could have a life or death vanilla WHG, or we could have a dating simulator this time, teehee. The simulator will not take into account characters' sexualities, but it could still be fun! I'll put this as a poll so hopefully, more people will see it and be interested. Please reblog to spread the word!

HAVE THAT CHARACTER GAIN WEIGHT AS A SIGN OF HEALING: NOW
So my beta reader for the Big Fics is an astrophysicist, right. Who is currently also writing a hard sci-fi novel about the exploration of Phobos (more power to them, I cannot with the physics required for that, best I can do is soft sci-fi/fantasy and that reminds me I should finish that story).
Anyway I was bitching about how hard it is to come up with feasible planets in Star Wars because sometimes you need a new planet from scratch and sometimes you need to know more about a planet than the 'has jungles, is probably a moon technically' than Wookieepedia will give you, and they're like 'oh yeah I can do something about that'.
So they've written (in Matlab but they swear it will run as a .exe as well and I may be conscripted to embed it as a web tool at some point) a star system generator.
You input what you know about the planet (ecosystem, population, sun colour, does it have liquid water, does it have a moon or moons, is it a moon or moons, temperature averages, atmosphere, you get me) and it will give you the... everything else about the star system, in obedience to real-universe physics. And if you input nothing you get a randomly generated star system.
And I’m like oh I know people who will be into this with a vengeance, and they're not on Tumblr, so this is me seeing who exactly would be keen on, and I cannot stress this enough, a real-physics comprehensive star system generator.
It's still in the debugging phase (last error fixed: every planet wants to have a population of exactly 5000 regardless of other factors, turned out to be a missing equals sign somewhere), but I'm psyched for this and trying to gauge interest for how high a priority 'make this an accessible web tool' needs to be.

Best latest update to Criminal is changing Eli's alleged crime/reason for being exiled from "murder he didn't commit" to something that wins Rat's approval before they even meet:
Vici looks thoughtful. “We found some earlier footage, and it seems that Vastate and Steele don’t agree whether…the last one…qualifies.” “Eli? Yeah, what’s his crime, anyway? Startled a kitten by looking it in the eye?” Vici purses her lips. “Minor property damage and also stealing weapons of mass destruction.” Well. Shoot. That blows me out of the water, doesn’t it? “And where exactly did Skinny van der Skeleton smuggle the nukes? In his hair?” I hiss. “Rat, he isn’t human. He’s half Mech. By classification, I suppose that makes him a cyborg. This was the argument. He has skin, and his structure sounds functionally the same, and there’s still some real tissue left, but most bones are metal and joints are mechanical. Though his brain still carries out tasks of the human brain, it somehow knows how to operate all the machinery in his body. Vastate counts him as the weapon of mass destruction.” “And he stole himself,” I say, thinking back to that sheet in the basement [where Eli was being kept earlier]. Right—Steele didn’t exactly look full of pride about Eli being here. All of a sudden, I sure am. I’m not a big fan of Mechs, but I am a big fan of breaching containment.
Just added a great new detail that requires some context to add why it's so great:
So the whole thing about My Name is Criminal is that a bunch of the worst criminals are sentenced to exile, right? So, there's a scene where the worst of them are gathered up, and then the worst of the worst are called up to go first. The crowd gets dinky folding chairs, and when their name gets called, it's tacitly understood that they step up and sit in basically a throne closer to the stage.
The new addition is: when Rat gets called up, she just drags her folding chair with her and sits in that.
Which does so much for the scene:
It's just funny because Rat is such a gremlin
It subtly shows that she defies directives you didn't even notice were there
It actually foreshadows a completely pointless reveal two books from now where she admits one of her many other criminal identities was the weirdo who stole chairs just for giggles
It enables her to sit closer to Vici (who's in a throne) than anybody else, showing how attached she's gotten so Vici's imminent betray will be all the stronger
Most importantly, I'm actually acknowledging how Eli is an unexpected late entry so there wasn't a throne ready for him. The fact that Rat forfeits hers allows him to have one. In a few hours, she'll give up her whole plan of going it alone to accept his help during the exile, and this moment already signifies that it's Rat's defiance that allows Eli to be included. Your honor I love them
Eli sits next to me, one hand around me so I can’t fall back into the water. I’m soaked and cold and therefore gross—and I have a power where a tap of my finger destroyed an oceanwide force field. But he doesn’t flinch. “You’re really not scared of me,” I mutter, huddling by this detail like it’s a warm fire. “No.” There’s a pause as people shuffle closer, congratulating us on making it, saying things about where we are. Eli lowers his voice just for me. “…Should I be…?” I think of all the warnings they’ve given him about me, the ways I’ve lived up to the legend for better or for worse, the times they’ve ragged on him for being too naïve. “No. You shouldn’t be.”
It took a little over a month to revise book 1. It's taken about two and a half months to do book 2.
I'm worried about how long I can sustain this project, and I'm thinking about taking a break and working on something else for a while. But I did do it. My Name is Runaway is about 20k words lighter. It's sharper and cuts to the deeper problems surrounding the characters faster. The characters have clearer development, especially the ones who were set up to be the bad guys last book.
This garbage cleans up nice.

Heist movie where The Crew starts laying out The Plan and they get to the part where they need to seduce a security guard. The Femme Fatale of the group goes for it, guard isn’t interested in her at all. The Crew thinks he’s gay so they send The Hunk to seduce him, still not interested. They now think the guard is asexual, they spend twenty minutes trying to find out what interests he has so they can distract him. After cyberstalking him a bit they find out he’s a big Yugi-Oh fan, they make a plan to rob a card trading shop, much easier than their current job. They get some rare cards and go back but the guards have switched shifts. They try to seduce the new guard with the Femme Fatale, he’s not interested. This process goes on for fifty or so minutes

This idea is inspired by and formatted like @ratracechronicler‘s post here! This is such a fun idea! I’ll be writing these as if all my characters like each other.
Scene: Before the story even starts.
Luneth checks out his script and frowns. “Why is my character so angsty?!”
Scene: Luneth just revealed he was a Tenebrus.
Luneth looks at Cassian and Tamra with wary eyes, but before they can continue the scene, all three of them burst out laughing.
Luneth says in between laughs: “I just can’t imagine being worried that either of you would hate me! It’s so ridiculous!”
Scene: The mayor of Vivality goes into Tamra’s house and asks Cassian, Tamra, and Luneth to investigate the people who attacked Vivality. Meanwhile, a mob is standing outside the house, wanting Luneth to go away.
The mayor, looking at Luneth: “As for you, see this as an…opportunity.”
Luneth, crossing his arms: “I do what I want!”
Cassian, laughing: “Heck yeah! Stick it to the man!”
