@the-sleepy-sheep if it helps, kny takes place in the Taisho Era, which spanned from 1912-1926! Though the Kamados weren't exactly hip on the newest fashion, so I would also look into the years before 1912 ^^

I wonder if her kimono is made from silk, or hemp? Wasn’t her family not so well off? So maybe hemp… then again, it is a nice looking kimono

I'm far from an expert on Japanese textiles, but I highly doubt it was silk. As you pointed out, the Kamados are not particularly well off, and silk would be a very poor material choice for snowy weather! Given how sturdy it is and the fact that the Kamados are working class and live in the mountains hemp is much more likely.

I’ve noticed that cosplay posts on tumblr don’t seem to get anywhere near the recognition that art/fics/edits/etc get. Most of the notes are likes and when people reblog they tend to not leave any kind of feedback. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that content culture is so big rn and I think a lot of people don’t really see cosplay pics as being in the same lane as art/fics/whatever....but cosplay is also a form of art and cosplayers like enthusiastic reception too! maybe it’s just me but it’s something I’ve noticed with my cosplay blog vs my main

Edit: I also want to mention my gratitude towards the faculty member who helped us with this shoot. I had the idea to take photos at my school's science center, but unfortunately they were just closing up for the day when we got there. However we explained what we were doing to the faculty member who greeted us and he was actually really into it! He not only let us stay after closing, he also showed us around the science center and pointed out good props to take photos with. He even went into the storage closet to pull out the skeleton for her to pose with! I'm so grateful for him and his kindness. Without him this shoot wouldn't have been what it was. So thank you unnamed faculty member!
