coming back to the rpc after about 5 years away and why does everyone seem to be allergic to reblogging their partners promos these days? like I understand not reblogging the promo of someone in the tags who you've never interact with before, but why do people seem to not want to promote their partners? are they trying to monopolize them, does nobody care about anyone but themselves anymore? it's very annoying
Okay, so it’s in your rules to never ignore you but if you don’t make the first move to interact with people and if I feel like everything is one-sided, then I won’t be staying mutuals with you for long. You have to be doing the work too.
I'm seeing several people with DNIs in their rules that state they won't interact with a particular fandom or the material in any way shape or form. This fandom was never in their DNIs before and I'm just here thinking, "Is this the new fashionable thing to dislike and make a big deal over? Is this the new performative attempt to seem like you're an activist and as if you care? Is this the new thing you put in your DNI to try and fit in?" The funny thing is I know some of these people still like the material behind closed doors. Lol. Like… wow. And these rpers are like…. late 20s/early 30s. I thought this sort of thing would be outgrown by now.
Why are you proclaiming yourself an RP blog, posting RP memes, and posting starter calls if you never actually make those starter calls or answer the asks you get? All your posts are OOC gushing about the canon muse you proclaim you'll RP, dash commentary, and insider jokes from discord. Why are you even here?
Had the most unhinged complaint from a mutual. I don’t think I can put specifics as it is VERY weird. The very tldr version is that they got upset that I didn’t tell them everything about a plot they were not even involved in. They clearly have issues going on so I’m trying to be patient and sympathetic because the things they were saying and complaining to me about where really weird to me. It’s put me off writing with them and I’ve moved my other plot into a private community because I don’t want that drama or worry about them reading a thread reply and getting offended that I didn’t give them some sort of synopsis beforehand. I’m trying to be patient and respectful but after this I don’t think I’ll be able to think of them in the same light ever again and have already started distancing myself from them for my own comfort. Some people in the RPC are too much
My blog is usually very active and I queue up posts about a week in advance so I can control the speed things are coming back to me, particularly for partners who instantly reply. This had worked fine for the last two years with a lot of mutuals, some having adapted from a time where I also had the energy and time to instantly reply. I thought we were good and comfy. I ended up in hospital for two weeks after an accident, I’m still in recovery but I’m fine. I logged on this week and discovered I’ve lost six writing partners because the queue ran out. It would have been empty for about a week at most, I can’t really say how long because tbh I didn’t check nor care given what I was going through. I didn’t post on the blog what had happened, only that I’d need a little time to catch up as a heads up. They don’t know I was in an accident nor do they know I was in hospital, I’m not about publicly broadcasting that. Two of these partners I’ve been writing with for years already. But I didn’t post for a short period of time, the blog was silent only because I was incapacitated and that was it apparently. I didn’t post often enough so they unfollowed, ditching years worth of threads. I did reach out to both and neither have responded so I guess that’s it then? In some ways I’m glad as I have plenty of other partners who stuck around despite a temp hiatus. But seriously, those six ex-mutuals need to chill wtf?
you know there's nothing wrong with people who want to rp just for the sake of shipping or who want to write an au version of a character, but I'm so tired of seeing blogs where its clear they're just using playing a canon character of a muse as a way to draw people in while not actually wanting to play them. They're basically just playing an OC in a halloween costume, while lying that it's that character. It feels so dishonest and disingenuous to their partners and those who follow them. Like damn, at least mark your blog as an AU version if you're going to do that but better yet find a character that actually fits what you want. And the worst part is, those kind of RPers almost always seem to end up having a holier then though attitude and act like they are the expert on the character cause they 'developed them so much' you didn't develop jackshit, you created an OC and are trying to trick people so you can pimp them out.
Got frustrated years ago because a popular canon rp blog was not allowing OCs into the fandom's rpc discord she was admin of, and she was lying to me that it "wasn't personal" and OCs weren't allowed because nobody except the fandom's canons were allowed even though that was a load of shit, because her besties' crossover characters were allowed! That didn't apply to them I guess! so I logically, like anyone would, felt like shit about that hypocrisy and spoke up… … aaand that got me blackballed in that fandom's rpc. So I don't fuck with fandom rpc discords because of that bullcrap. Popular mun or otherwise. Never again.
i don't need to vent. i just love my dash and my mutuals <3
I wish people wouldn't shoehorn my muse into one specific genre. Yeah, my muse can be action or neo-noir oriented but both me and them have so much more range than that. The universe they're based in allows for a lot but I feel like I get turned away from people who do more gothic or melodrama threads. It makes me sad because I want those kinds of interactions. I wonder if my muse's aesthetics turns those types of roleplayers away or makes them think we won't be compatible.
being in an rpc group where everyone already knows eachother sucks because i feel like the dude nobody invited.
If you move blogs but don’t make an effort to follow your mutuals from your old blog and just expect them to know and follow you on your new blog, screw you. I’m not on the dash all the time, if you don’t reply for a while I’ll go and check on your blog to see if you’re ok only to find you’ve moved to a new blog and only said so in one post that’s a couple of weeks old, made no effort to communicate with me otherwise to say you’re moving or you know just following from your new blog so I’d know. All that tells me is you don’t care about our thread or as me as a mutual and you used the blog hop to clear your followers. Well done if that was the case because now I have no interest in writing with you if all you’re going to do is drop everything and hop to a new blog in a couple of months again anyway.
roleplayers can commission $200 art and not give a shit about people's need for help.
none of our threads get past 5 notes. others get 20+ AND multiple threads with 10+ replies but not me. i wish you would just tell me that our threads are boring or that you prefer m/m ships instead of string me along. i never say anything and most likely won't "cuz it's just rp" but after 2 years of this, it sure feels like you're lying to me and yourself tbh
being taken off someone's mains list when they're the only one i write with / the only reason i made the blog is the first place actually feels like a fucking slap in the face and makes me want to delete. like ? all i've done is make edits and things for our muses and send you memes and messages about them and been VERY patient for thread replies, and this is what i get in return?
Oops, I must have accidentally unfollowed you the way you somehow accidentally never replied to the starter I wrote for you despite telling me you did and telling me you'd go look for it and send me the link and never doing that either before moving on to make post after post after post, week after week after week, about all the starters you've written other people and things you've written to other people that you "owe". Funny how these kind of accidents happen.
