LIIFT4 DONE!
This was my LAST WEEK of LIIFT4! OMG.
I wasn’t good about posting every week, but trust me, I was good at doing ALL OF THE WORKOUTS. I was insistent on finishing this damn program, because I wanted to finish an exercise program for once in my life!
Here are my results:
I’m feeling very proud of myself. It was tough, there were weeks where I didn’t want to press play, and there were weekends were I felt like maybe I binged a little here and there, but I pushed through! I didn’t let it stop me from getting where I wanted to go.
Let me tell you, I feel so much more comfortable in my clothes, and I’m looking forward to continuing my fitness results.
I’m thinking about doing lifting at the gym, and some running cardio, and eventually going to P90X. We’ll see how it goes! Beach body here I come!!!
I was in line at Aldi and this girl with two toddlers in front of me had her card declined and she looked so fucking sad and said “let me call my husband real quick” and it was only 18 dollars, so I just paid for it, and she was very sweet and then as she walked off, the lady behind me said `”You know that was probably a scam, right?” and like, even if it was, like what a sad fucking scam, right? 18 dollars at the Aldi. If you’re “scamming” me for some Tyson chicken and apple juice and cauliflower, then just take my fucking money.
“A scam” people are fucking wild.
This happened to me, too. A woman had used WIC for the majority of her stuff (which I say from personal experience is such a long and embarrassing process) and to buy the remainder of her groceries, which included diapers and wipes, she used a card, and it got declined. I bought the other $30 of her groceries because hey, I’ve been there, and now I’m not. She was extremely emotional and began to cry and even hugged me. My mom called me on the drive home and could tell I had been crying myself, asked what was wrong, and when I told her what happened, she berated me for being “duped.” I couldn’t believe she could be so disappointed in one of her children for doing something- nice? Is that the hill you want to die on? Getting mad about people needing groceries?
I once paid for a woman’s bill at the vet…it wasn’t a big one, but she was trying to pay for some medication for her dog, and her card was declined. And her lip started trembling, and she says “I don’t get paid until Tuesday, would he be ok until then?”
So I just told them to add the $20 something onto my bill, and I thought she was going to break down crying right there.
And I don’t care if it was a scam or not. Just do nice things for people sometimes.
Do good recklessly.
I think “Do good recklessly” would be fantastic word art to hang on one’s wall. Artistic people, go!
So this has happened to me but from the other side. Several years ago when my oldest was around three or so, I had my debit card decline at Walmart. It wasn’t a scam or a mistake, I was genuinely broke. Out of money. I checked my bank and discovered I had something like 7 dollars left to my name and a hungry kid and nothing to eat at home. So I sat there trying to come up with the best way to stretch that tiny amount of money to feed my kid. Not even to feed me. I can live on popcorn or something if I have to but my kid was three and he had to eat. So there I am trying really hard not to cry while I slowly take things out of my basket to get it down to under 7 bucks, when a lady tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up and she smiled at me and started putting the things back in my cart. I opened my mouth to tell her that I didn’t have the money for them but she stopped me right away and said “Don’t worry about it. It’s gonna be fine.” Then she handed the cashier her credit card and said “Ring up all of it.” My kid got to eat because of her. I got to eat because of her. I had laundry soap and deodorant because of her. She could’ve just ignored me silently struggling in that line. She could’ve decided I was a scam and gone home feeling good about avoiding being duped. But instead she chose to help me and she saved us. So maybe the person struggling in front of you is trying to put one over on you or maybe they are just sad and broke and trying to figure out what to do. You get to decide which you want to believe and what you want to do. But I’ll tell y’all, no one has ever been more beautiful to me than that lady in that line who saved me and my baby. Be like her. Be beautiful.
Do good recklessly
DO BETTER. BE BETTER. STRIVE TO BE BETTER.
DO GOOD RECKLESSLY
Starting Week 4 LIIFT4
I’ve finally finished a program passed Week 2, and Week 3 was DIFFICULT. My motivation and discipline levels were pretty low, but I managed to finish every single workout this week (even though I had to do doubles on two days).
Monday was a holiday, and I spent it cleaning and sorting through laundry. By the time Monday was over, I still hadn’t meal prepped for the week or worked out... I ended up not working out and deciding to do doubles some time during the week to “make up for it.” I felt like this really threw me off and I made week 3 harder than it was supposed to be. On Tuesday I started Day 1 of LIIFT4, Wednesday I ran in the morning for 40 minutes, and did LIIFT Day 2 in the evening. Thursday was HELL. I was tired and grumpy but I still managed to press play for Day 3 LIIFT because it was just 30 minutes that day. Friday was full of anger and emotions, and I couldn't get myself to press “play” for day 4. I don’t know how people use working out as a means to destress or calm down, but I’ve found that it makes me more worked up because I get angrier that I’m working out! I ended up making an executive decision to do doubles on Saturday. Woke up early and did day 4, and ran in the afternoon for 40 minutes. (We also went to the zoo and walked A LOT.) Today was a running day, and I did go to the gym to do my 40 minute treadmill workout.
Today I’ve been feeling very disgruntled. My hubby got batteries for the scale this week and I’ve been on it almost every day. My weight has ranged from 148-152. I know that I’m not supposed to be thinking about the number on the scale, and it’s a feeling. I’ve been feeling better in my clothes, and I’ve been feeling more comfortable wearing outfits that I used to avoid wearing, but I would be lying if I said that my weight depressed me. I also haven’t been noticing any changes in the mirror, and when I did my measurements tonight, I was saddened that there wasn’t more change:
Chest went up, legs and biceps stayed the same. I felt like this was more evidence as to why I hadn’t seen any changes in the mirror, and I was beating myself up for it up until I compared my Week 0 photos to now ~
Even though there wasn’t a huge change, there’s still change. I felt a little better when I noticed that I had thinned out and that my hard work was paying off slowly.
I’m also excited that after this week, I’ll be half way through LIIFT4. Then 4 more weeks until I finish the program! (This will be the first program that I will have finished! XD)
Until next week!!!
Day 2-3
This week was a struggle for me to stay active and healthy. When I get upset or stressed, I ultimately start binging on food thinking that I’m eating away my feelings. It’s not healthy by any means, but it’s something I’ve done in the past. This week I was very tempted to not workout and just sit on the couch and eat my feelings away. Since this is something I do/done, I think that I don’t have self control or the discipline to be active and healthy. The habit makes me feel weak and gross.
This week I came face to face with it. I told myself “no” and decided to try to use my workouts as positive way to deal with the stress and my emotions. I did have one day of emotional eating, but with how I was before, I felt like I was more in control. I didn’t feel good about myself the next day, but I told myself that I am allowed to have “junk foods” as long its not every day. Also, I didn’t pig out as much as I usually do... which I thought was a plus. I need to give myself credit where credit is due, and not be so negative.
I guess I never did that in the past because I always felt that I was babying myself or making excuses. I don’t really feel like I’m making excuses for myself rather, telling myself that it’s OK to eat food, and it’s OK to feel emotions.
Well, I think my focus this month is getting back to working out every day, and having a healthy eating lifestyle. Over the past two weeks, I feel like it has been successful. I haven’t missed any workouts, and I haven’t gone overboard on the junk food. I feel like this sounds silly, but, I feel a little more comfortable in my skin, and even though I’m not anywhere near my goal; I feel better in my clothes. That feels good.
This Monday, I’m going to focus on my closet and getting rid of any clothes that I haven’t used. I think my next focus will be decluttering. I want a clean and decluttered house for a clean and decluttered mind.
LIIFT4 Off day
So I haven’t updated since Sunday or Monday, but it doesn’t mean that I haven’t been doing my workouts.
LIIFT 4 Week 2 was tough as well as this week. Been dealing with work stress and life stress and I very much wanted to thrown in the towel, but I pushed myself to continue. I’m very glad I did.
Yesterday was the toughest day. After a long week at work, I realized that it was “leg day,” and I very much wanted to just ignore that, pour myself some whiskey, and enjoy voyager. (My husband was also having a tough week at work, and had a “screw x” mentality with food and being active.)
I’m not going to lie, on Thursday I was not good with my diet. I had like 2-3 string cheeses, a full bag of chips, and a few of these rice crispy bites, and it really messed with my stomach. The next day I felt nausea and under the weather for most of the day Friday (which is part of the reason why it was so hard to work out in the PM).
Today I felt very proud of myself for sticking with my workouts even though the week was annoying. I feel pumped and motivated to finish LIIFT4!
Anywho, I just got back from the gym and did my running. Tomorrow is another gym day and maybe measurements tomorrow or Monday.
Week 2 Day 8 ~ LIIFT4
This weekend was bad but manageable. My cousin wanted to go out dancing, so we ended up going to Hillcrest for a silent disco. I drank A LOT this weekend, lol.
I’ve never gone to a silent disco, and when my cousin was describing it, I wasn’t too sure about it. (Even waiting outside the bar watching people with headphones on, dancing in silence, was a little odd. Honestly, it was the most antisocial social thing I’ve ever witnessed.) When I finally got in and had my own headset I understood the gloriousness of the concept. It was so good! I loved being able to switch through the channels of music ~ current, oldies, and EDM ~ and if I didn’t feel like dancing, but wanted to talk to people, I could rest the headset on my shoulders and talk normally. I didn’t have to lean in and yell in someone’s ear. (The noise level was like a restaurant.) I felt like the whole experience was like dancing/singing in your car, but with a group of people. It was especially fun because they focused mostly on 90s music and it reminded me of middle school again, lol.
Then, Sunday morning was brunch and mimosas with friends. Our friends also stayed from 11:30-5:30, which threw me off hard core, and I wasn’t able to go run at the gym. Not the best weekend for “healthy eating” and “healthy choices,” but I feel like it’s ok to live a little and have fun! (Not like I’m going to be doing this EVERY weekend!)
Today was Week 2 Day 8 of LIIFT4: Chest/Triceps Circuit. It was VERY DIFFICULT, there were more weight exercises, and the pushups afterwards were killer. I did the best that I could, but I wasn’t able to complete 10 wide pushups and 10 tricep pushups each of the 3 times. My arms gave out and I collapsed onto the mat. Hopefully I’ll get stronger as I go and I’ll be able to do it with less difficulty as I get used to doing the workouts.
My eating today was pretty on point, and my meals for the week are as follows:
Breakfast: 21 day fix egg mason jar casserole (1 red, 1 green, 1/2 blue)
Snack 1: Overnight oats with 1/2 banana (1 yellow, 1 purple)
Lunch: 21 day fix crockpot caprese chicken with noodles (1 red, 2 green)
Snack 2: Apple (1 purple)
Dinner: Asian style crockpot chicken with green beans (1 red, 1 green, 2 TSP)
Snack 3: Protein shake (1 red)
There was even provided breakfast and lunch at work, but I wasn’t tempted to eat anything that was there.
I also was able to take my pictures and do my measurements. According to my measurements, I’ve lost some inches, but I don’t think it’s too noticeable in the pictures. I’m not discouraged since there inches don’t lie, and I’m very happy to see that my hard work last week had paid off. (Even though i drank alcohol over the weekend!
I’m hoping that I continue to have the discipline this week to workout, because it was my first day back to work after a three week break!
See you tomorrow!
Day 6
Today was an “off day” for LIIFT4, but I managed to go to the gym and run for 35 minutes.
I’m exhausted right now, and we’re going dancing tonight. Where did all my energy go for going out? When I was younger, I wouldn’t bat an eye... now adays I feel as if it’s not worth it.
I know I’ll have fun, I just know I’m going to be dead tomorrow, lol.
Toodles.
Day 5 ~ Legs - LIIFT 50/50 (Day 4)
Today was day 4 of LIIFT4.
“Survived” is putting it mildly. I absolutely HATE leg day, it’s the workout that I dread the most. LIIFT4 has a no joke leg workout. I feel like I’m going to be crawling everywhere tomorrow, and jogging at the gym might not be an option. It was a tough workout, I went through them very slowly because the squats and lunges were difficult for me. The HIIT after the weights was HARD. It was my least favorite video but I’ll probably learn to love it.
My eating was pretty good today as well. We even went to Cheesecake Factory and I ordered on the “skinny” menu. I got the Seared Ahi Tuna salad, and I treated myself with empty calories and enjoyed a skinny mojito.
See you tomorrow :)
Day 1 of Self Love 💕: What is your biggest struggle with loving yourself?
Body image, really. It started when I was young.
My mother put me in all these dance, art, and music classes when I was younger. I just remember being 7 years old in my ballet class and someone mentioned that the little girl got a “big part” because she was blonde and petite. I just remember looking in the dance mirror and seeing a tall, brunette, well fed girl staring back in the mirror.
I’ve always been one of the taller kids, I developed earlier than most of the girls my age, and I was super awkward looking. My mom would tell me “you’re perfect: not skinny and not fat. You’re in between and perfect.” I’m sure my mom wasn’t trying to damage my self esteem at a young age, but I just remember thinking that I wasn’t beautiful since I didn’t look like everyone else.
My body image didn’t start changing into a more positive light until I entered high school. When I was about 16, I grew closer to a girl and we became best friends. In my mind she was gorgeous. Straight brown hair with a dash of blond enough to glitter when the light touched it. She was thin, small chested, and toned. Everything I wanted to be.
She started telling me that I was wearing clothes that were too big for me, and I should try on her clothes. WHAT? Me? But they would surely stretch! They didn’t. I realized that we were the same size, and for the first time I felt good about myself.
Fast forward a few years, and now I’m 19. My self esteem isn’t the greatest but I’m content with how I look. I meet my ex husband, and there are new things to worry about.
He’s 5 years older and says that if there’s anyway for this relationship to work, it had to be physical. I was a virgin, and the most physical thing I ever did was kiss (and not even French kiss!) Honestly, for this relationship, that ALONE was the first red flag that should have told me to run the opposite direction, but I didn’t. Instead I started to think things like ~ What if he didn’t like how I looked? Are my breasts too saggy? But I don’t want to have sex...
I was with him for 5-6 years. During that time, my self esteem plummeted to an all time low. He was mentally and emotionally abusive, and sometimes sexually abusive. He would tell me I was too fat, or too thin, not smart enough, my teeth were too big, my breasts were too saggy, I didn’t have enough sexual experiences, and constantly compare me to his perfect ex “who was the one that got away and you will never compare to her.” Even at the very end, the last thing my ex said to me was, “you really are fat.” By that point, I was a 109 pounds and barely eating bc of stress.
I ended up leaving him for my current husband and haven’t looked back since. My husband now is my best friend and really helped bring me back. When he found me I was just a shell of a human being. I was so wounded that it was easier to not feel anything, and I was living life choosing not to feel. It was easier. I felt broken. I didn’t feel human. After therapy and surrounding myself with family and friends, I was able to start allowing myself to express and feel emotions.
Currently, it’s very hard to look in the mirror and not judge what I see. I need to remember that i would never say my thoughts out loud to another person, because it’s verbal abuse, so why would I say it to myself?
You gained weight? Okay. Are you happy? No. Are you doing something about it? Yes.
Awesome! 👏 Props to you for not giving up! You’re beautiful.
It’s not too bad once you think about it that way.
🤣I’ve totally told myself this before.
I was looking at myself in the mirror and was thinking how horrible I looked, and then I realized that this year I was going to make an effort to be more positive about myself.
Well, here’s my challenge. 31 days of self love.
Lifft4 ~ week 1 day 3 Shoulders & LIIFT Intervals
Today wasn’t the best day with water, I should have drank way more than I did. This is going to sound odd, but I didn’t have the time @.@
But I managed to stay away from the — scratch that, I ate like 4 “be mine” hearts 😅. Other than that, I stayed pretty well out of the face of danger. (Especially since the hubby bought Swiss Rolls and I’ve been eying those HARD! I’m even considering just sniffing it, just to get a scent fix 🤦♀️😆)
Anywho, day went pretty well, considering we had the annoying photo shoot... but it all came out so cute!
YES, I MADE THAT!! 🙌🙌🙌. Honestly, she’s my greatest accomplishment.
Day 3 of LIIFT4 is tough. It was very hard getting my butt off the couch, but I did it anyway. Do I feel good about the workout? Meh. Am I glad I worked out? Yush!
Toodles.
