This week I have:

2 crown preps (one full gold removal + recurrent decay and iykyk)

My SRP competency (not that worried about this)

MY FIRST ROOT CANAL ON A HUMAN (we pray for one canal)

Writing this so I can look back on this week and know that I got through it just fine!

Update on this:

One of the crown preps was like the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. Mesial inclined molar with sub g margins I really gave it my all. Literally had to make a temp out of acrylic.

PASSED my competency 🎉🎉

THE ROOT CANAL TOOK A COMPLETE DETOUR when the premolar decided to have 3 roots and 4 canals which apparently less than 5% of the population has and is a completely advanced case even difficult for endodontists (so I was told) and definitely not for a student lol I spent a good 4 hours trying to find the canals and then referred out 🥲

Today I shadowed a forensic dentist and ID'd bodies using dental records at the coroners office and also saw a few autopsies and it was so so interesting but also ~heavy~ and I feel like I need to talk about it but like... there's no "I saw my first autopsy!" forum and I have so many feelies. Life is fragile hug everyone you love.

I passed all my board exams (!!) which means there are ... no more exams in my adult life?? Unless I really go wild and specialize. Or quit dentistry all together after loans are paid. Which honestly... has crossed my mind.

I passed ADEX (physical boards) and awaiting INDBE (written boards) and… it’s all happening? I’m almost done with dental school? One more year but with rotations I know it will go by so fast.
