Congregation Emanu-El stands in solidarity with the people of Paris in the face of these horrific acts of terror. The victims, their families and the people of France are in our hearts as we pray for their comfort, support, freedom and for the recovery of those who are wounded.
Emanu-El Congregation answers the call! Last Friday's eblast from Rabbi Bauer asking for donations of baby/kids shoes, children & adult winter clothes and mylar thermal blankets to aid in the Syrian refugee relief efforts has been overwhelming! This photo was just of this morning's drop-off by the front gate.
Alex Scotta will be making a trek to Greece and help hand out a portion of these items to refugees.
Thank you to our congregants!

A Rabbi in downtown San Francisco and a Pastor in Seattle share their love of the team with the Faithful.
Our own Rabbi Ryan Bauer shares his love of the San Francisco 49ers with the Faithful.
Rabbi Bauer talks about our responsibility to address the global refugee crisis. He shares three ways people can take action right now. Links to the organizations he talks about can be found on our we
"Being Jewish means acting Jewish. We mean what we pray, we mean what we sing, helping others being free. We must be that generation that helps bring in the refugees during this global conflict. Being a member of Emanu-El means you are a part of history." - Rabbi Ryan Bauer

"The Shofar can blast you awake. But if you are not paying attention to the breath that comes before the shofar blast and if you're not paying attention to that still, small, quiet voice inside of you after, you are missing most of Rosh Hashanah."
Rabbi Sydney Mintz
Listen to September 13, 2015 - Rabbi Jonathan Singer Erev Rosh Hashanah Classic sermon by Congregation Emanu-El #np on #SoundCloud
"It is not enough to climb the mountain. You have to find the vision of your life." - Rabbi Jonathan Singer
Listen to September 4 - Rabbi Ryan Bauer sermon by Congregation Emanu-El #np on #SoundCloud
"The thing about #Judaism is that we are a people and a tradition that encourages feedback. I need a web of people that surround me who are going to be honest and kind and who will help lead me to a healthier place."
- Rabbi Ryan Bauer
It’s ironic that a holiday established to celebrate American workers has become one of the longest, most difficult workdays for retail employees. So, instead of hitting the sales and adding to modern-day workers’ burdens, why not focus on family time and rest—the original point of this holi...
Look, no matter how old your kid is, you can explain Labor Day in a sentence: Back in the late 1800s, many Americans had to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week—kids, too!—in unsafe conditions, without enough bathroom breaks, until groups of workers banded together in unions and helped advocate for better conditions.
Feel free to add that #Jews were a huge part of this movement, and as part of our ongoing efforts at tikkun olam (fixing the world), we should continue to advocate for workers still being exploited, both in the United States and abroad.
Amen.
Listen to August 21, 2015 - Rabbi Jason Rodich sermon by Congregation Emanu-El #np on #SoundCloud
"Who are the judges that you have appointed in your own life? Are they meritorious? Are they worthy? Do your judges help you remove the grit from your soul?
Part of pursuing justice is pursuing a soul that is whole, balanced, and at peace so we might thrive in our lives."
Ed Zerin - June 26, 2015
Rabbi Edward Zerin reads poetry inspired by his teacher and fellow genius, Rabbi Raphael Krinsky. Music composed by Dr. Michael Isaacson, founding music director of the Israel Pops Orchestra and the Milken Archive of American Jewish music. Singing by operCantor Roslyn Barak.
