// @congregenturanimarum sent: "To stay in Ishgard for a longer while, would I have to apply for citizenship? If so... Would I choose to go with Doctor as my title or Professor - -?" Naosont is largely thinking out loud, humming as he marks recent exams rather swiftly with an orange pen.
"---which... Would make you a Ser? Or a Mister?" He looks straight at Estinien, pen pausing.
Estinien loved domestic moments like these. Moments of him coming home from a hunt, finding his partner in his solar, head bent either over his student’s exams or the notes of his own research, and while Naosont would sit at his desk or lounge on the sofa Estinien would sit cross legged on the ground, his beloved Gae Bolg in lap, listening to whatever his partner wanted to share with him while he cleaned his lance off any blood before he started polishing and sharpening it. It was no secret that his weapon was his most priced possession, he took better care of it than of himself, much to the dismay of the doctor he had given his heart to.
When he heard Naosont’s question a smile tugged at his lips. He was pleased to hear that Naosont had enjoyed their trip to Ishgard so much, even though it had been quite the challenge to find a coat that could keep the doctor, who was so used to mild temperatures, warm enough to take him on longer walks through the Coerthan wilderness without him falling sick. They had done a lot of exploring during their travels but they had also spent a lot of time in Ishgard itself, Estinien had introduced his partner to his friend the Lord Speaker, he had brought him to the Forgotten Knight to get a taste of Ishgardian ale and he had brought Naosont to the Halonic cathedral to witness the beauty of its architecture and so Estinien could attend mass for the first time in a long while.
Contemplating Naoson’t words he hummed quietly to himself.
“I used to be the Azure Dragoon, which would make me Ser Varlineau, you could refer to the commendation I will write for you if you want. If you decide to apply for citizenship I mean. Also it would be smart to introduce yourself as Doctor Sepelaire instead of Professor. Aye, the war is over but Ishgard still values chirurgeons over researchers.”
Estinien scratched at a rather stubborn bloodstain with his fingernail, oblivious to the significance of his words as he said: “Easiest way would be through marriage I suppose.”
