Often the journey to the life you’ve always dreamt of doesn’t come with constant external reassurance. In fact, it quite often comes with experiences that may fill you with doubt. But that’s OK! Why? Because the option of being your own biggest supporter is always available to you. You know where you are going. You know why you are doing what you do. This might be a hot take but I really, truly, honestly believe that if it costs you your peace, then it is too expensive. Not that job, not that relationship, not your grades, not money, not maintaining a certain social status, none of it is worth your mental health. Don’t ever feel guilty for prioritizing yourself. Your mental health is more important than anything. So many of you that follow this page are empaths, and as an empath your initial reaction is to help others, sometimes at all costs. But if it gets to the point where you are hurting yourself in the process of helping them, it’s time to reconsider where your boundaries. Our thought patterns and the way we think about ourselves truly has the ability to make or break us. This is probably one of the most useful things I’ve learned during my healing journey. Just like children need love and words of encouragement to grow up emotionally healthy, we as adults need the same to STAY healthy. And for those of us who deal with rumination, it can really be a struggle to feel any sort of positivity. Try this next time you find your thoughts repeating unhealthy patterns. First, become aware of the negative thought pattern. Second, stop it in its tracks by thinking or saying “stop” or any other word of your choice to break up the thought. Third, replace it with something positive. A little tip: instead of saying an affirmation like “I am…” try saying “You are…”, as if you were talking to your inner child. Changing affirmations from “I am” to “You are” has honestly been a game changer for me. Give it a try and see how it makes you feel. It’s time to be so delusionally in love with ourselves that it radiates into every aspect of our lives! The majority of what happens to us in life is mostly out of our control, I think we can all agree on that. Yet so many of us run around trying to do just that: control everything. But what happens when our need for control takes over and we forget to just ‘be’? We get anxious, we get stressed out, we worry, & we miss out on the beautiful things that surround us all the time. When our focus is on everything that could go wrong, we literally cannot see all the good things that are already sitting right in front of our eyes. When we try to control, we assume that things won’t happen the way they are ’supposed to’. We assume that life doesn’t have a way of working itself out on it’s own. But there is a simple solution to this, we need to learn to surrender. There is freedom and peace in surrender. Letting things flow naturally and trusting that everything will be OK has the power to set you free. Because honestly, most of the things we worry about in life don’t ever happen. Looking back, Im pretty sure every single amazing moment happened when I was least expecting it and when I was open to anything and everything life wanted to show me. You cannot be surprised by the wonders of life while trying to be in control. You cannot feel at peace while constantly worrying about what can go wrong. There is a time and a place to plan and create safety, and there is a time and place to let go and surrender to the rhythms of life. So what will it be, control? Or peace? The choice is yours. Being a good person does not mean becoming a martyr. If you ever find yourself hesitating to speak up about something that matters to you bc you are afraid to hurt someone else, just remember… YOU ARE SOMEONE, TOO. You deserve to be heard. You deserve to have your voice taken seriously. And while it may potentially cause an uncomfortable situation, the ones that love & respect you would rather you speak up and work it out together than wallow in silence.
