Iâm trying to keep my cloths minimal. I donât like all of the shapes nor colors, and especially canât find my way to follow the trends - I stay true to my style and itâs a blessing. I sell the clothes Iâm no longer using or craving for. Most of fabrics are natural also because my skin donât like polyester nor viscose. Personally, societyâs biggest problem is super-consumption. Choosing quantity instead of quality is a mistake. However, the end is always the same - there is no happy ending, not to mention the bad impact of a producing process, we end up with tones of clothes we donât like and donât need. Wrong circle. A little post-shopping photo. I am starting my #zerowaste bathroom. Here you can see some incredibly smelling shower soap bars (antibacterial parsley and hydrating beurre de karitĂ©) and a honey shampoo bar in it box - our holidays are approaching so I need to think about transporting it. The soaps smell incredibly !! My whole bathroom smells like a lush shop! Iâm in love! One of the best things when living in Paris is la Boulangerie đ„, you can find literally on every corner! This little treasure is still warm and smelling deadly! Yes, I still buy bread lot of pastries( I do love home made cooking and baking) because we are living in our tiny, Parisian appartement and my kitchen is really small. We do not have a dishwasher neither. So baking bread, croissants or making pickles becomes really hard, cause I do not have a spare place to store it. However I am really trying my best. Iâve grew up in a very traditional, Polish family, raised by my grandma who always made everything at home- and I love her for that because now I am doing it myself! YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED HER CAKES!đ€©. But I must say a real reason for my bread-post is that I got really proud. I am a real beginner but Iâm trying my best in all the ways. So I took my reusable- cotton bag this morning tu buy this bread and first time since I have strayed the journey, I have heard the word that made me proud. Two men standing behind me in a line, saw my little cotton bag and saw that I have refused all plastic or paper given. And then I heard it: â We all should have do the same. You are so totally right, our congratulations for reactingâ. I literally had tears in my eyes and this little episode has changed my Friday. I hope your Friday will rock and so do your weekend! Today I went to our usual supermarket. I needed some fruits to my tart and there was no local market today. Apart some dry fruits everything else is covered in plastic. It was my first time with the reusable bags I have ordered a week ago ( first online #zerowaste shopping arrived!). I was expecting some comments or to be told I cannot use my cotton bags, but no! Another changement on my bathroom. For a long time I have been using the washing flowers made completely from plastic. I was so in love with them, the way how my gel mousses on that, and the colors were pretty. But they were not a good quality things and I was obliged to change them quite often. Two days ago Iâve found that I still have four of them in my stock!! Luckily, my friend was happy to take them, so it didnât finish in my trash. I am so very happy to be using this little washing gloves for my skin!
I am so excited to share this picture with you people! The #bambootoothbrush is my first #nowaste internet purchase. The time has come to change our normal brushes and I saw so many people using and actually being satisfied with the bamboo ones, so I said to myself- why not! There isnât still many reviews of them, or different kinds of, so I have order for a try. Today was my first brushing and actually I am very content. It is too early to speak about the duration of my brush, but for the moment I would just wish it was more hard. I do not have really sensitive teeth so I donât mind using the âmediumâ one. POINT: they have came in a cartoon enveloppe and a cartoon box. As you can see, each brush has her own cartoon package. I would have been totally happy with only a big cartoon box, not all five of them.. but thatâs my point. âđ»does someone here can recommend a medium hard bamboo toothbrush ? Thanks in advance!
Plastic Straws Arenât the Problem
The anti-straw movement took off in 2015, after a video of a sea turtle with a straw stuck in its nose went viral. Campaigns soon followed, with activists often citing studies of the growing ocean plastics problem. Intense media interest in the so-called Great Pacific Garbage Patch â a floating, France-sized gyre of oceanic plastic â only heightened the concern.
However, plastic straws only account for about .03 percent of the 8 million metric tons of plastics estimated to enter the oceans in a given year.
A recent survey by scientists affiliated with Ocean Cleanup, a group developing technologies to reduce ocean plastic, offers one answer about where the bulk of ocean plastic is coming from. Using surface samples and aerial surveys, the group determined that at least 46 percent of the plastic in the garbage patch by weight comes from a single product: fishing nets. Other fishing gear makes up a good chunk of the rest.
The impact of this junk goes well beyond pollution. Ghost gear, as itâs sometimes called, goes on fishing long after itâs been abandoned, to the great detriment of marine habitats. In 2013, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science estimated that lost and abandoned crab pots take in 1.25 million blue crabs each year.
This is a complicated problem. But since the early 1990s, thereâs been widespread agreement on at least one solution: a system to mark commercial fishing gear, so that the person or company that bought it can be held accountable when itâs abandoned. Combined with better onshore facilities to dispose of such gear â ideally by recycling â and penalties for dumping at sea, such a system could go a long way toward reducing marine waste. Countries belonging to the United Nationâs Food and Agriculture Organization have even agreed on guidelines for the process.
Thatâs where all that anti-straw energy could really help. In 1990, after years of consumer pressure, the worldâs three largest tuna companies agreed to stop intentionally netting dolphins. Soon after, they introduced a âdolphin safeâ certification label and tuna-related dolphin deaths declined precipitously. A similar campaign to pressure global seafood companies to adopt gear-marking practices â and to help developing regions pay for them â could have an even more profound impact. Energized consumers and activists in rich countries could play a crucial role in such a movement.

Yesterday I have finished my make-up remover oil. It comes in a recycling plastic bottle (if Iâm not wrong itâs the category 5). Iâve found a bar facial soap in my bathroom. Whether itâs a bar soap it came in a cartoon package and a plastic bag inside âïž. Itâs not #plasticfree but I still have a lot of bottles and products to finish, which I have purchased during my two years in Paris. I have decided to finish them all first and then start to purchase a #zerowaste products. Itâs also my minimalistic way of being. I donât like to have too many products. Currently Iâm emptying my beauty products and observing my skin carefully to know which ones are not necessary and create a minimal skincare routine. However IT IS MY FIRST STEP FOR A BAR SOAPS! Iâm really trying, by little steps but trying my best to reduce the plastic stuff. Is there someone here from Paris and have a good shop to recommend for beauty products? đđ»ââïž

Time has come for my first photo . For most of you it might seem not much- but for us itâs a beginning. We have decided to follow #zerowaste step by step. Kitchen is our first objet. So we have changed all the plastic bottles for the glass ones. We always have few of the lemon or cucumber water in the fridge. It is our first step- and it can also be your. This is the easiest change you can make at your home. Replacing #plasticbottle can #reducewaste (which for me is the most importantđłđ), helps to save your money, and permit to have always fresh, cold water. I remember when we had 4 or 5 plastic bottles half-empty in almost every piece of our tiny! appartement. I cannot explain how important the changement occurred to me. We all needed to start somewhere and somehow. By posting some of my photos, I would like to show to people, that little changements do count and everybody can start. On the other side, I would like not to be judged. Itâs still not perfect, I still might have some troubles with replacing plastic or going completely #zerowaste BUT I am very open for some advice.
