All he wanted was for the man to shut up, but he just kept talking about how Violet would never love him, how they shouldnāt be together. Rolling her eyes, "Of course she does," was all Constance could say. The ingrate Violet has gotten the best of Tate for years, yet she still looked down her nose at him. Constance would go to great lengths to garner attention like Violet received from her son. "It's a shame about Ben. Maybe I don't want to know... but I'm not accepting a damn thing. Can I find someone else for you to talk to?"
She cast her eyes down unable to look at Tate for a moment. Tears cascaded over her cheeks, "I went to Addy's grave the other day. Did she hate me like the rest of y'all? Tate, I'm becoming an old woman, and I just want to make amends. What can I do." Constance gave him a pitiful look.Ā

As the man gazed at the sun Constance lost her breath, for the sunlight shone through his hair brilliantly. He looked reminiscent of an angel as the his eyes became muddy lakes with the dusk's last tendrils of light reflecting over their surfaces. She walked closer, and she goes to loop arms with him. "We all have dark pasts we can't escape in this house."
Constance rested her head against his firm shoulder. "I can never really leave this place. That's why I came back. I'm as trapped as the rest of y'all, but I know how to make an eternity go by a lil faster." With a wink she walked inside the house hoping Jake would follow.Ā
