An arty story that seems worth sharing.. so much like life. I’ve been working on what I thought was a good idea. A series of black and white work based on graffiti in Colombia observed while travelling. Not to make a statement or political comment but to abstract it a little.. it presents a difficult space to understand in black and white and I love those spaces. Through this process it’s been dawning on me that it’s not working. Too abstract, complex, inaccessible and too much information. At the same time thinking about how I can do colour and it excites me. And how a landscape is so simple/complex and a space that’s forgiving of my style in a way that will really free me up. During our time in Colombia I took tons and tons of photos .. some with the intent to paint later because I thought wow, what a difficult/beautiful space, or person, light, or just something about it.
