Introduction video
Final drawing of tower 1:50. Drawing made on paper, approximately 1500 mm high.
Design realization report
ISSUU document
Jpegs:
Final presentation June 9th 2015.
Architect: June 4th 2015
Huge shipments of mirror and glass come in by plane everyday. The world seems to warp around this massive tower. Gravity will stop mattering in the same way because it will be massive enough to fall in on itself. I am lost here and do not know how to get out, I don´t know what is outside.
Author: June 4th 2015
The drawing, as the rendering of each surface gets work, becomes clearer. This decreases the power of it, I therefore aim to keep the ambiguity by other means, by form, perspective, color, the thickness of lines.
Architect: June 3rd 2015
They have managed to build an eternal loop someway because I am stuck here now. I slept somewhere in the middle of the tower and now I´ve been walking all day and there is no way down and the tower seems to go on forever.
Author: June 3rd 2015
I record voice-overs for the video. Self, Author, Architect, User. In the video they fade in and out of each other, merging and becoming a discordant whole. I use two female and two male voices, partly to ensure a large enough variation to make them out clearly, partly to bring home the point that only Self is my voice. The gender of for example Architect or Author is irrelevant.
Author: June 2nd 2015
The drawing and it´s technique become more and more clear to me. It needs to register more, overlap more, trace more. The overlapping goes through construction to drawing to not erasing mistakes completely. The tower becomes a palimpsest describing it´s own conception.
Architect: June 2nd 2015
I go up and down the winding staircase, getting further every time because I always leave a plank at the top. Sometimes it is correctly placed. Other times I have to add a new one and either ignore or break the last one. Sand it down to dust. The nest bowl has a hole in it´s bottom center, an inverted pantheon reflecting the sky through it´s water mirror.
Architect: June 1st 2015
The landscape that is the purpose have for weeks been little more than an idea or the line of the horizon. Today though, I start to really feel it. It is color, it is texture. It is images endlessly overlapping.

The Design realization report finally got handed in today at 15.00 leaving one week to finish the project/present the project as it is. The tower is always in process.
In the evening I started to figure out how to create the surrounding landscape in the tower drawing.I glue pieces of transparent paper with photocopy images of landscape on it.
Architect: May 31st 2015
We live here in this building, in this structure, rearing our heads, seeing the rest of the world scattered before us. I am no longer the architect of this venture. I am simply another worker. The tower seems to be planned beforehand by an unseen force.
Author: May 31st 2015
The project needs a name as it´s ambitions are not anonymous answers to inevitable questions. “What then in this openness?” is a question straight from the Design realization report summing up the looming question that the project poses, on two levels. I settle for “In the open”. It describes both the predicaments of the site and the project as well as the main question it poses.
I´ve never had a title before that has been more than a clear description of the project. Somehow I have thought it pretentious. There is no going back from being pretentious though, stuck in this mud.
Architect: May 30th 2015
I slept in the tower tonight for the first time, under open skies studded with stars. It simply takes too much time to get down to the ground.
Author: May 30th 2015
I used this day to compile most of the texts in the report. Some of them are taken directly from the diaries, some are newly written, some are taken but changed to accomodate their new context. They all originate from the work with the diaries though.
Architect: May 29th 2015
I eat my midday meal in the belly of the tower today, gazing into the water below. The tower is huge, and getting taller. Workers scurry around it on scaffolding and stilts, rough ropes tied around their chests. The stairs are spiralling upwards, forming a kind of womb. The outside is clearly visible though at all times. The landscape is all.
