Study Tips for Starting A Levels ( Or a New School Year).
Hello! I thought I’d share some practical tips that I learned throughout year 12 that helped me survive AS Levels. These tips are specifically for A Levels, but can be used by everyone if you want!
Enjoy your summer: A Levels can be very stressful, so make sure you relax and recuperate. Try and finish any summer work early on so you have plenty of time to chill. Read a book, binge watch a TV show, go out with friends, bake something, anything that will help you unwind.
Prepare and organise: try and figure out how you’re going to organise your notes before hand, as this can save you a lot of stress later on in the year. Have your folders/notebooks/however you want to organise your notes ready so you can begin straight away. This will help you stay on top of everything, preventing you getting needlessly stressed.
Work steadily: Try and produce revision material throughout the year, ideally once you’ve finished a topic as this will also help consolidate your knowledge. This will significantly reduce unnecessary stress around exam times as you already have the materials you need to revise. You could produce mind maps, flashcards, written or typed up notes, posters or any other technique you find useful.
Past papers: Past papers/exam questions is definitely something I’d suggest you use to revise. Whilst knowing the content is very important, exam technique is also vital in order to succeed. Doing past questions alongside the mark scheme or exemplar answers is a useful way of gaining these techniques, so definitely incorporate them into your revision. Practice makes perfect!
Use a diary/planner: Use a diary to write down all your homework and important dates, as it is one less thing you have to worry about remembering!
Don’t be disheartened: There is a jump from GCSE to A Level, so one thing I cannot stress enough is not to worry about your grades at the start. Yes, there will be some people who will get it straight away, but, in my experience, most people take a while to adjust to A Levels. You can go from an A at GCSE to an E at A Level, but that’s okay - it does’t mean you don’t work hard enough or are not good enough, you are. Once you’ve adjusted to the exam technique/A Levels in general, you’ll be absolutely fine. Don’t be disheartened and do the best you can do. It will pay off.
I hope these tips are somewhat useful and I hope you all do amazing in your GCSEs and, eventually, A Levels. It can be an unsettling time, given how the daunting prospect of university/adult life grows closer, but don’t worry: hard work will pay off and Studyblr will be here to support you if you ever need it. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. Good luck! :) xxx
If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.

Mass rallies as Brazil political crisis deepens
Brazil faced a deepening political crisis and mass street protests Friday as opponents and backers of President Dilma Rousseff mobilized after lawmakers renewed efforts to drive her from office. With Rousseff fighting an impeachment drive and financial markets apparently betting on a collapse of her government, her embattled left-wing support base vowed to take to the streets Friday. Late Thursday, police in Brasilia fired tear gas and stun grenades to keep at bay angry protesters demanding her resignation.
Brazil’s lower house of Congress then launched a committee to draw up a motion on whether to impeach Rousseff over corruption accusations. The committee has two weeks to present a motion to the house, which must vote on whether to launch an impeachment trial in the Senate.
