The âGreen Caesar,â a portrait of Julius Caesar made after a few decades after his death, during the reign of Augustus. The bust is made of slate instead of marble and was probably made in Egypt, where slate is plentiful. The bust made its way through France during the Renaissance period and eventually was acquired by Frederick the Great in 1767.
