[ Abel had seen more faces than he could remember in the past few hours. Winced grins and outstretched hands that he shook as if someone was operating him like a marionette. Person after person telling him their names, making small talk about the life that they had before the island. Well-dressed women with rich accents and put together young men with suit shirts and tailored jackets. On occasion, there were trickles of blood streaming from someone's temple, or a split lip, but no injury was obviously lethal to the naked eye. ]

[ Everyone was new. Someone to be learned and then forgotten in the blink of an eye. People from all over the United Kingdom and other countries with menacing power on a global scale. A few yankees here and there, a Frenchman, it almost felt like one of the meetings his father used to drag him to with clients of significant status. Everyone was new except for one familiar head of caramel curls and strikingly bottle green eyes. ]

[ Adam nods at Abel once as a form of acknowledgment. He was a close connection to Abel's father, he delivered on every promise and had million dollar connections. They had only met once or twice in passing, but it seemed to be enough for Adam to weave through the group with a young woman - who by the looks of it, was his sister - trailing at his side. ]

"Yarrow. You look a bit worse for the wear. These past few years haven't been treating you well, have they? How has pursing a life of passion been for you? I almost visited you the other day to see how you've been doing. The firm is awfully quiet without you there." [ He says it like it should be a joke between two old friends, but his eyes pierce through Abel with something far deeper than humour. ]

[Abel had recognized Adam in passing, he’s not sure he’d ever personally talked to him outside of meetings he was required to attend when he still practiced law. It’s possible Cain had mentioned Adam before, but the likelihood of Abel remembering what his brother said was exceedingly slim, it had been a couple years since he left the firm and dropped out of law school, and even longer since he’d talked to his brother. The only trace of his former life being the bachelors degree hanging on his bedroom wall much to his roommate Henry’s confusion.

Abel would be lying if he said he slept every night, that he didn’t have decisions that rattled against the inside of his brain. But leaving the firm was not one of those decisions for Abel. That was one of the few decisions he was confident was right.]

“It’s been years since I’ve seen you, it’s Romilly right? You don’t look much different.”

“It’s been rather humbling if I'm being honest. It’s gotten better as of lately though, my boss pays me slightly more if I sing just because it means he doesn’t have to book an act for the night.”

“I’m sure my father’s firm is handling just fine with Cain at the helm, don’t think I contributed enough to be missed. You’d be surprised how many of the patrons I recognize from there though.”

[ A sharp snap of a twig alerts Kitt to the presence of a timid looking young woman. The broken branch lays cracked beneath her heeled boot, her sheepish glance signifying that she hadn't intended to be heard or seen. She steps over the broken twig silently, eyes flickering from his face to his hands and back again, as if he is going to strike her for the mistake. ]

"My apologies for creating such a disturbance, I was just wondering if you knew where the stream was? Someone down on the beach said there was fresh water up here, and I suppose I just got all turned around."

[ Her voice sounds foreign, her English accent isn't quite right. There is the sound of something else amongst her words, but she speaks so quitely that it's impossible to tell what it may be. The young lady scuffs the toe of her white boot on the dirt floor of the forest, a streak of brown smearing against the pristine plastic-y coat. Her face lights up as if she forgot something, her hands clasping over each other as she brings her gaze up from the ground to his eyes. ]

"My name is Marjorie. Sorry again for bothering you."

[ His head jerks back to see the young woman standing in the patch behind him, she looks rather timid as she’s making a noticeable effort to make herself look smaller. He noticed the way she looked as if the slightest indicator could send her fleeing, possibly trying to navigate the woods on her own. ]

“Don’t worry Miss, I’d be- I’d be happy to show you the way to the stream. Do you need a hand? The ground is rather unsteady over here.”

[ He pulled his hand out of his pocket, the palm was laying flat an inch shy of the top of his slacks. She looked very hesitantly at his hand, almost confused, like she was suspecting something entirely different, like she was assessing if that was really a safe decision.

She took the boy's hand and followed softly behind him, almost like she was scared to make a sound. Although there was no marked path, it looked as if this route had been traveled quite a bit lately. THe creepers were all broken, pressed into the ground from frequent foot traffic. As they passed particularly low hanging branches, the boy would move them out of her way so she didn’t need to duck below them whilst getting scratched by a few of the higher ones himself. ]

“My name is- you can call me Kitt.”

[ Kitt pushed a bush clear of Marjorie’s path, bringing two feet of dirt and the rocky edge of a winding creek into view, Kitt makes sure both of the young woman’s boots meet the firmly packed soil before he releases her hand. He kneels along the bed of rocks dipping the tips of his finger into the stream. ]

“This is one of- one of the better spots to get water, it takes less filtering. Closest to what you can drink from your hands y’know. If you desire I can show you how to filter it, Marjorie.”

[A nun approaches the twins with a soft smile on her lips. Her one eye shines with a gentle disposition.]

Good evening gentlemen, it's nice to make your acquaintance. Do you mind if I sit here? I'm sister Eve Gabriel.

[She nodded politely before taking a seat. Her knees sat close to her chest as she plucked the fraying hem of her robe.]

I believe I ought to make friendly with everyone on the island. It's nice to spread good will to others, is it not? Besides, we'll be stuck for a while, so why not be kind before tragedy strikes once more?

[Her gaze softens as she turns to face the twins.]

You two are lucky, y'know. You're twins, right? I hardly know anyone aside from... well that doesn't really matter. What I mean to get at is you have to look out for each other, don't you? That's a rare luxury now. Family truly is a precious thing.

[A wistfully look grows on her face before she smiles once more.]

I haven't been talking too much have I? I've said so much and I don't even know your names yet. Silly me, I forget myself.

[ The shorter of the two is the first to acknowledge her presence, his features look softer, more genuine than his slightly taller counterpart leaning against the tree root not meeting her gaze. His smile seems to be genuine, or as genuine as one can be while still being honest with themselves. ]

“Go on ahead, I built a life on not minding the company. When the alternative is being left alone with the contents of your head you learn to be happy with the conversation.”

[ The boy looks at his brother leaning against the tree root, pretending that he isn’t listening. That act might fool most, he is a lawyer after all, but after growing up with him, that was the most obvious thing in the world to his brother. Though it’s not quite eavesdropping if the conversation was sparked with him in mind, he still failed at being discreet in the eyes of the sibling he’d shared a bedroom with for a majority of their childhood years. ]

“That is smart I suppose. Generosity is rather refreshing, especially now.”

[ Something has grabbed the taller boy’s interest, he’s now fully facing Eve. Something she said must’ve caught his full attention. His body language looks much more calculated, like he has practice in looking this casual. ]

“Rather interesting you should say something about that, it’s actually been quite a while since I’ve seen my brother here. Quit the firm and left, haven’t heard much of him. Didn’t even know he was alive up until the plane.”

[ The shorter of the two looks back at his brother, his expression noticeably more sour than before. Something has struck a nerve, but nothing he’s deemed is enough to lose his composure over. ]

“Don’t bother wrecking your brain over that, I often find myself spending most of my time around people who confide too much in strangers. If I’m being quite honest, talking a lot isn’t a bad thing. Since you asked. My name is Abel. This is my brother.”

[ Before he can continue Abel is interrupted, the boy pushes himself forward. ]

“I’m Cain Yarrow of Yarrow Law, and I am perfectly capable of introducing myself Abel.”
